This project serves as an introduction to ancient Greek and Roman mythology, as well as an introduction to researching in the library. Students will spend a day in the library researching information about their assigned god/goddess/hero(ine). On December 10th and 11th , students will be presenting their god/goddess/hero(ine) to the class via a poster. On December 14th, an open note test over mythology, based on the posters, will be given.
In the Library:
Students will research their assigned god/goddess/hero(ine). Only books and websites approved by the library/Ms. Martinez are allowed. A bibliography of the sources used must be made.
Information you will need to find:
Posters and Gallery Walk:
Students will create a poster displaying the information about their god/goddess/hero(ine). Points will be given for thoroughness of information as well as creativity in presentation. Students will present their poster, hang it up, and each student will read over the posters, taking notes about each god/goddess/hero.
Final Test:
On December 14th a test over all the mythological figures will be given. The test will be based on the information presented on the posters, and students will be allowed to use their notes taken during those presentations. The test grade counts for half of the total project grade.
Grade:
The final project grade is comprised of two parts: the notes and the poster (50 points) and the final test (50 points). A Works Cited used to gather the information must be turned in on December 10th, regardless of your presentation day.
