New club, GirlTrek @ LSUS presents Campus Block Party

SHREVEPORT, La.—The new club on campus, GirlTrek @ LSUS, is hosting GirlTrek On Deck, a block party to promote their values and increase membership. GirlTrek On Deck will take place on Feb. 18, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at LSUS University Center Mall.

The GirlTrek mission is to “create a safe community for African American women and LSUS students designed to develop students’ knowledge of African American cultural history and civil rights history and principles through walking campaigns, community leadership, and discussion.

GirlTrek On Deck will feature several exhibits about African American historical figures and civil rights historical events. Block party activities, double-dutch contests, hula-hooping, hopscotch. Podnuh’s Bar B-Q will sponsor the food. Skillzplus Entertainment emcees the party. Food, music, fun, and games!

“I am honored to present this block party to educate my fellow students about African American history and culture. It’s exciting to introduce people to new things!” said GirlTrek @ LSUS founder Tyran Jackson.
