The Forest Hills Public Schools offers a fee-based, before and after school child care program. Our before and after school care programs are housed in all of the district’s elementary school buildings and Northern Trails 5/6. Before care only is housed at Central Woodlands 5/6. All before and after school care programs run from 6:45 a.m. to the time that the school starts, and from the time school ends until 6:15 p.m. The FHPS Child Care Program is for children Kindergarten through sixth grade.
How much does it cost? Before school care is $11 per day and breakfast is included. After school care also is $11 per day and a snack is included. There is a 10 percent discount applied for five day scheduling. A $40 annual registration fee will be applied to your first invoice. A minimum of 3 days per week/per program is required.
What about days when there is no school? Is there anything available for my child? If your child is enrolled in the before and after school care program, then they may automatically attend the Forest Hills Public Schools’ Child Care Program available on non-school days. Non-scheduled school days are held at Central Woodlands. Registration is required for non-scheduled school days.
Inclement weather days are held at Central Woodland for children attending Ada, Central Woodlands, Pine Ridge and Thornapple. Children attending Ada Vista, Collins, Knapp Forest, Meadow Brook, Northern Trails and Orchard View attend Northern Trails for inclement weather days. No registration is necessary for inclement weather days.
How do I enroll in the before- and after-school care program?
Visit www.fhps.net/departments/child-care-services/ for information on all programs. Please subscribe to the FHPS News when visiting the child care website. All communication regarding the opening and closing of child care registration dates will be posted in those emails.
If my child is enrolled in the before- and after-school care program, what is available during the summer months? The Forest Hills Public School District offers full-day Summer Day Camps, which allows for flexible scheduling. There is a three days/three week minimum enrollment required. Activities and field trips abound in this fun-filled summer program. If this is of interest to you, you must enroll your child separately in the Summer Day Camp Program. Visit the child care website for more information and to view a calendar of planned field trips and activities.
