Raleigh Jaycees Scholarship

Since 2003, our scholarship programs promote student achievement for those demonstrating leadership development. Our criteria include merit, character, leadership, and community activities. Students are also asked to respond to an essay question and share their school and community activity information with us.

(HLAA) Wake Chapter has established a $500 scholarship for a high school senior with hearing loss who:

The Eta Beta Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. in Durham North Carolina Scholarship

Eligibility Requirements

•Applicants must be graduating seniors who reside in and attend school in The Triangle Area of North Carolina.

•Applicants must attend an accredited college, university or post-secondary institution in pursuit of a degree within one year of graduation.

•Applicants must have at least a 3.0 cumulative Grade Point Average on a 4.0 scale to qualify for a scholarship award.

Essay instructions:  Applicants are required to submit a typed narrative essay explaining "why are you deserving of this scholarship and how will this scholarship assist you in achieving your goals."  The essay is an important part of the selection process. Essay must be double-spaced, 12 point, Times New Roman font, 1 page maximum, and one-inch margin on all sides.

William Gaston Allen Scholarship

Eligibility requirements:

Applicants must:

• Be high student seniors.

 • Have a minimum cumulative unweighted GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.

• Be from Wake, Wayne or Brunswick County, North Carolina.

• Demonstrate financial need.

• Have been enrolled in the local high school full time during his or her junior and senior year.

• Have demonstrated sincere interest in, and commitment to, pursue higher education.

 • Have demonstrated interest in enhancing personal potential.

• Demonstrate traits of high personal character and leadership.

 • Be planning to attend full-time an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, technical, trade, or professional school. Scholarship specifics:

• Scholarships may be renewed on an annual basis for up to three additional years (or until the bachelor’s degree is obtained, whichever is earlier) provided they maintain their undergraduate status and a cumulative GPA of 2.0 on a scale of 4.0

NCHSAA Lacrosse Scholarship

The NCHSAA awards two $500 scholarships (one male and one female) to senior varsity lacrosse players at an NCHSAA member high school who have been accepted to play lacrosse on the varsity collegiate level of an NCAA or NAIA program.

 

Tony Cullen Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is given in memory of former player, coach, and official, Tony Cullen. Tony Cullen played and coached lacrosse at Duke University in the 80’s, and later became an official in the early 90’s.  The NCHSAA awards two $1,000 scholarships (one male and one female) to senior varsity lacrosse players at an NCHSAA member high school who have been accepted to play lacrosse on the varsity collegiate level of an NCAA or NAIA program.

 Consideration is given to the following verifiable & documented criteria:

- GPA and Class Rank.

- Quality of reference letters.

- GPA and Class Rank.

- Examples of applicant’s ways of giving back to lacrosse besides playing the game.

- Leadership qualities with examples applicable to the applicant's team and as an individual.

- Examples of sportsmanship as a player and integrity as a person
