Addressing School Safety
The staff at Iao School takes swift action to address safety concerns when they are brought to our attention by students, parents and community members. But the work of addressing school safety is an ongoing challenge that we must continually attend to. We are currently taking numerous steps to both prepare and respond to threats to student safety, should they arise. This includes educating students about when and how to report incidents to staff, practicing and refining lockdown procedures, and developing new systems of both prevention and response. Please direct any questions to Principal Dillon (email@example.com).

It’s Flu Season!
Its flu season again, flu season typically starts in October and usually builds to a peak in January and February. The in-school “Stop Flu at School” program is again offering flu vaccinations to students, kindergarten through the 8th grade free of charge.
Iao School will be holding their Stop Flu at School clinic on Wednesday November 1, 2017; it will start during homeroom and will end before first lunch.
A packet for the flu vaccine will be passed out to student by their homeroom teacher before the fall break. Be sure to check with your child for the flu vaccine packet. If your child did not receive one, feel free to call me. I am in the Health Room from 7:30 to 2:30 at 727-5250.
Read the consent form information, fill out the green Student Vaccination Consent Form completely with a black inkpen, do not use a pencil.
Have your child return the completed form into his/her homeroom teacher by October 25, 2017.
If your child already had received the vaccine for this season please do not return the consent form.
Getting forms in on time is important in assuring that enough vaccine is ordered.
This program is provided by the Hawaii State Department of Health in partnership with the Department of Education.
