An example of a good setting in horror could be a haunted house, scary forest, Abandoned shack, Creepy school or an Asylum. All these settings can be used in a horror movie.
3. Characters: In a Horror Movie Characters are a very crucial part of the movie. Without them the storyline wouldn’t make any sense. For the Characters, there is usually a Protagonist, An Antagonist, A Damsel in distress (Maybe) and some characters that appear along the way. The Protagonists job in the movie is to kill, Defeat the Antagious. The Antaginous job is to defeat the Protagonist. The Damsel in distress could be anybody, As long as they are helpless.
4. Cliches: There are so many cliches in horror movies. It might be, The hero defeats the villain, The Guy gets the girl, Or, Just when you think its dead. Cliches are always used in horror movies, And those cliches are what gets the viewers attention, Even though they appear quite a lot throughout horror, They never get old, which is why the directors and producers keep on using them.
5. Blood and weapons: In horror movies, Blood and weapons are so important. There are many other things that are involved in horror movies. These include: Weapons, for example, Knives, A Wooden bat, Chainsaw etc. In Horror movies the Producers and Directors tend to use weapons that torcher people the most. For example: People in horror movies never really use guns because It's real quick and doesn’t add much curiosity to the audience. Which is why they use knives and bats etc. Gore and blood are used so many times in horror movies they are used to make viewers feel disgusted.
6. Camera Tricks and Effects: Camera Tricks and effects are what make horror seem more scary. For example adding a different camera angle, when the Antagonist kills somebody. There are many different camera tricks starting with Pan: When the camera moves up, down or side to side. Tracking shot: The Camera is moved forwards, backwards or side to side on train tracks. Focus: How clear or sharp an image is In focus When an image is clear and sharp. Out of focus: When an Image is blurry and has a soft focus, And when an image has a soft outline. Deep focus When the foreground, middle ground and background are all in focus. Shallow Focus: When one part of the image is in focus, and another part is not. There are also a few camera angles. Low angle: The camera is placed below eye level, looking up. And High Angle: The camera is placed above eye level, looking down
