What Is Queen Creek Parent Connection Academy?

Queen Creek Parent Connection Academy is a five-week free course for residents of Queen Creek created by the Southeast Valley Community Alliance to provide families with updated information and local resources for raising healthy and resilient tween, teens, and young adults.

What topics will be covered?

Throughout five 60 to 90 minute sessions, parents will receive information about talking to your kids about social media (including how to set limits and monitor), substance use (trends and threats, prevention, recognizing use, and how to respond), recognizing and approaching stigmas that limit open communication, mental health, and community involvement and outreach, so you and your children can become part of the solution.

Presenters include trained professionals using toolkits tested and approved by the county and state to ensure accurate data and responsive  outcomes. Parents will also meet with representatives from QCPD, town leaders, and participate in group discussion that will be integral in building Queen Creek’s culture around topics that impact youth.

How do I join?

The pilot program will consist of parents who reside in Queen Creek. by request, pending availability, to naomi@anfhelp.org. There will be a short application, including a questionnaire asking demographics, such as ages of children and schools they attend, but the questionnaire will not impact who can join.

What if I need to miss a week?

We strongly encourage attending each of your sessions with your group, as part of the positive outcome of participation is a chance to meet other local families and build lasting community relationships. If you have known conflicts, we ask that you wait for the next session, but if you need to discuss missing a week, please contact naomi@anfhelp.org.
