Good Morning BHS. It’s Wednesday, Sept. 18. Here are your announcements for today: 

Congratulations to the Belvidere girls golf co-op on their win against Harvard last night at Timber Pointe! A big shout out to Coe Walberg, Megan Redig, Emma Walberg and Rachel Nelson for leading the girls to their best overall team score of the season with a 200! Awesome job ladies, and good luck tonight as you take on Harlem at Atwood!

The girls volleyball team won a clean sweep against over Jefferson Tuesday. All three levels won in two sets, with the varsity winning 25-20 an 25-15. Grace Haug and Athena Kindgren led all hitters with 8 kills a piece. The team’s serve receive was extremely consistent thanks to Lizzy Rodriguez, Paige Kitsemble, and Joanna Brown. Lizzy Rodriguez led our defense with 6 digs. Maria Zepeda had 14 assists.

The LADY BUCs Varsity lost to DeKalb in DeKalb Monday 6-1.  Junior Brittney Albarran won in straight sets at 3rd singles. The LADY BUCs JV won against DeKalb with a score of 3-2.  Winners included:

Sophomore Teresa Madera at 2nd Singles, 1st Doubles team of Sophomores Citlali Vilchis and Cassandra Cortez as well as 3rd Doubles team of Freshmen Skyler Melillo and Lory Lopez. Additional JV Winners included Freshman Nikki Cortez at Singles, Kate Hulstedt at Singles and Doubles team of Mimi Alvarez and Brittney Alvarez. The Varsity Lady BUCs lost to Belvidere North 4-1 on Tuesday.

Beau DeGennaro did win at 1st singles in three sets.  The Fresh-Soph Lady BUCs also lost to North on Tuesday with a score of 5-0. The Lady BUCs will play Jefferson at Jefferson on Thursday.

The form to nominate your classmates for the homecoming court has been e-mailed to all students.  Please complete the form by 3:00, Monday, Sept.23.

Attention all students interested in joining Spanish Club, there will be an informational meeting on Monday, Sept. 23rd at 3:05 in Room 7.  See you there!

Student council members will be in the cafeteria during lunch selling crosstown t-shirts.  The t-shirts are $10.00.  Get one before they are gone!

BHS Health & Medicine Careers Club will be hosting a guest speaker discussing Careers in Social Work this Thursday, Sept. 19. The Med Club meets immediately after school on Thursday, in Room 08, across from the Attendance Office. All club members should attend. Any other student who would like to find out more about a possible career in Social Work is also invited to attend.

Attention seniors: The senior 2020 panoramic photo will be taken on Tuesday, Sept. 24 during Buc Club. Please report to Buc Club and teachers will escort students to the football field.

Do you want to help recognize your peers, teachers, and staff? Are you interested in helping make our school a welcoming place? Then Renaissance is the club for you. Join us every Wednesday from 3:05-3:45 in room 20. If you ride the bus, you can sign up by 10 am Wed to take the after hours bus that leaves at 4. Any questions see Mrs. Full in room 20 or Mrs. Smith in room 24.

We're going to New York over Spring Break! Can you come with us? If you want more information about how you can sign up for the trip, please see Miss Sanders in RM 234.

Seniors -- do you and your parents need help understanding the college application and financial aid process? Then please plan to join the BHS counselors as well as representatives from the Illinois Student Assistance Commission TONIGHT for College Application & Financial Aid Night. This event will be in the Forum Room from 6:30-8:00PM. The financial aid portion of the presentation will also be offered in Spanish. Please bring your parents and join us.

Seniors and Juniors -- Tuesday, October 1 we will be traveling to both Beloit College and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Please pick up a permission form in student services. Permission forms are due to Mr. Young by Friday, Sept. 20.

On Saturday the girls swim team competed in the Hononegah Invite.  Each girls competed against the members of her own class. Freshman Sutton Gaines placed 11th out of all of the freshman at the meet.  Yaritza Carillo placed 19th out of all of the sophomores, and junior Emerson Gaines finished in 16th place out of all the juniors.  Great job ladies!

The girls and boys cross country teams raced at the First to the Finish in Peoria Saturday. The girls finished 38th overall. Journie Manzella led the girls finishing 164th overall. The boys finished 47th overall, led by Nick Fiore in 93rd place.

Morning Announcements for Friday, Sept. 13, 2019

Good Morning BHS. It’s Friday, Sept. 13. Here are your announcements for today: 

Last night the girls swim team swam against Harlem and Jefferson.  Belvidere beat both Harlem and Jefferson! Emerson Gaines finished 2nd in the 200 IM, and 100 backstroke, Sutton Gianes finished 2nd in the 100 butterfly and the 100 breaststroke, Yaritza Carillo finished 6th in the 200 IM and 9th in the 100 breaststroke, and Aubrey Anderson finished 10th in the 500 freestyle.  Sutton Gaines, Emerson Gaines along with Alyssa Petersen and Maddie McClain won the 200 Freestyle Relay.  Great job and good luck at the Hono invitational this weekend.

Morning Announcements for Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019

Good Morning BHS. It’s Thursday, Sept. 12. Here are your announcements for today: 

Lady BUCs Varsity Tennis played Wednesday at Home vs Rockford Lutheran and lost 3-2. Winners included Sophomore Beau DeGennaro at 1st Singles and Junior Kiana Staton at 2nd Singles.  Our 3rd Doubles team of Seniors Illuzion Michel and Jocelyn Aguilar had the LONGEST match of the year so far, playing right into darkness.  They lost but won one set and lost the other two sets in tie-breakers! Girls will play Kaneland Saturday.

There will be a meeting for any girls interested in playing basketball TODAY at 3:10 in room 71. If you cannot make the meeting stop down in the PE office and see coach Douglas for information.

Join Multicultural Club! We will meet to provide members with an opportunity to explore their own culture and learn appreciation of other cultures as well! Our first meeting will be TODAY at 3:10 in Room 234! See Miss Ortiz-Rendon or Miss Sanders with any questions! We hope to see you there.

Morning Announcements for Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2019

Good Morning BHS. It’s Wednesday, Sept. 11. Here are your announcements for today: 

The girls volleyball team won at all three levels over Boylan Tuesday. Freshmen won a hard fought match in 3, JV found hard and came up a little short in extra points, and Varsity won in 2.

Varsity was led offensively by Grace Haug and Athena Kindgren with 5 kills each. Our serve receive passed a 2.30 out of a 3.0 scale. Payton Bruneau managed the offense with 8 assists, and Maria Zepeda with 6 assists. The teams picked up wins on Monday.  Varsity was lead with 4 kills by both Grace Haug and Meadow Cox. Our offensive was run effectively thanks to Payton Bruneau (5assists) and Maria Zepeda (6 assists). Our backrow was lead by Lizzy Rodriguez with 6 digs.

The girls cross country team took fifth overall at the NIC-10 Preview Meet. Journie Manzella led the way at 28th place, followed by Elly Heimer, Brynn Kirkland, Ericka Flores, Desiray Beaudet and Faith Allen finishing 29th through 33rd.

The boys varsity took 6th place at the NIC 10 Preview meet...All 10 conference schools ran in the meet...Nick Fiore took 8th place overall at 17:12...Owin Hunter came in 22nd at 18:00...Dom Moran (18:51), Jake Koziol (19:06), and Sebastian Zuniga (19:24) rounded out the top 5...Best race of the season so far for our team...We beat teams tonight that have prevoiusly beat us this year...We cam together and are learning how to run a 3 mile race.In the Fresh/Soph race, Xander Albano placed 29th overall...

LADY BUCs TENNIS Varsity and Fresh-Soph both won 3-2 Tuesday vs EAST. Winners on Varsity included 1st Singles Player Sophomore Beau DeGennaro, 2nd Singles Player Junior Kiana Staton as well as 1st Doubles Team of Seniors Arouj Mustansar and Guadalupe Rivera. Winners on Fresh-Soph included Second Singles Player Freshman Kate Hulstedt, 1st Doubles Team of Sophomore Jasmin Camargo and Devin Horn as well as 2nd Doubles Team of Sophomores Citlali Vilchis and Cassandra Cortez. Girls play on Thursday 9/12 at Boylan and next Monday in DeKalb.

Gamer Club will meet today, Wednesday, in Mr. Edelman's room 14.

Good Morning BHS. It’s Friday, Sept. 6. Here are your announcements for today: 

Congratulations to our varsity and JV Girls Golf teams on their wins over Hononegah last night at Mactown. We would like to give a big shout-out Coe Walberg, Rachel Nelson, Emma Walberg and Megan Redig for leading the varsity girls 209 to 225. We would also like to recognize Karah Hook, Abby Houk, Rayn Chanthaphone and Hannah Hix for leading the JV team to a successful victory. Great job ladies!

The LADY BUCs Varsity Tennis Team lost 2-3 to Freeport on Thursday at home. Winners on Varsity included Sophomore Beau DeGennero at 1st Singles and Junior Kiana Staton at 2nd Singles. The LADY BUCs Fresh-Soph Tennis Team won 3-2 to Freeport on Thursday at home.  Winners included Freshman Kate Hulstedt at second singles, 1st Doubles Team of Freshmen Jenny Espinoza and Devin Horn as well as 3rd Doubles team of Sophomores Teresa Madera and Brenda Rivera.  Freshmen Skyler Melillo and Lory Lopez also won at 4th Doubles.

Seniors and Juniors -- we are excited to announce our fall college field trip is now set. On Tuesday, October 1st we will be traveling to both Beloit College and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. This trip will allow you to see both a small private college and a large public university. This trip is open to 40 seniors and juniors. Due to the competitive admissions at both schools, students must have at least a 2.75 cumulative grade point average to go on the trip. Please pick up a permission form in student services and see Mr. Young with any questions. Permission forms are due to Mr. Young by Friday, September 20th.

Attention all students interested in ART CLUB!  Our first informational meeting will be TODAY in room FA10. Any student may join Art Club even if youve never taken an art class:) See Miss Reints with any questions.

Morning Announcements for Thursday, Sept. 5, 2019

Good Morning BHS. It’s Thursday, Sept. 5. Here are your announcements for today: 

All Freshman - Go to your e-mail and take part in the democratic process of electing your class officers!  Watch the videos and vote by 3:00 on Tuesday, September 10.

The weight room will be open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 3:15 to 4:30 p.m. starting Monday, Sept. 9.

Are you interested in leadership, building character, and serving your community? Join Key Club International! Key club will be meeting every Tuesday in room 54 at 3:10.  If you have any questions, please see Ms. Turner in room 54.

Health & Medicine Careers Club will meet immediately after school on Thursday in Room 08, across from the attendance office. Club members will walk over to Fire Station #2 for a scheduled tour and meet with Fire Station EMT's. Club members should attend.  Other students also interested in EMT or Fire Science carreers may also attend if space available, but please check with Mr Beke first.

The boys soccer team topped Freeport 2-1 Tuesday. The JV won 5-0.

In girls volleyball, varsity and freshmen dropped losses to Freeport. The JV picked up the win.

In swimming, the Belvidere Coop took fourth at the East Mermaid Relays. Emerson Gaines and Sutton Gaines had fantastic swims during the first meet of our season!

The Belvidere's girls golf co-op took their first win of the season over Rock Falls last night at Timber Pointe. Congrats to Coe Walberg, Rachel Nelson, Charlie Andres, and Megan Redig on leading the team with a final score of 206 to 214. The girls golf team dropped a close match, losing to Boylan by just six strokes earlier this week. Coe Walberg led the way with round of 45, earning meet medalist honors. Good luck girls as you take on Hononegah tonight at Mactown!

The Lady BUCs Varsity lost 5-0 to Dixon on Tuesday. The Lady BUCs JV also lost 4-1. Freshmen 1st doubles team of Jenny Espinoza and Devin Horn won their doubles match 9-7.

The LADY BUCs hosted their first HOME MEET vs Rochelle Thursday. They ended  up losing 2-3.

Winners included:  Sophomore Isabeau DeGennero at First Singles with a score of  6-2, 6-0, and

Junior Kiana Saton at Second Singles with a score of 6-2, 6-0. The Fresh-Soph lost 2-3 as well.

Winners on Fresh-Soph included: Freshman Nikki Cortez at First Singles with a score of 6-2 and

Freshmen Jennifer Espinoza and Devin Horn at First Doubles with score of 7-5. The LADY BUCs also have an away meet in Dixon next Tuesday and home meets against Sycamore and Freeport on Wednesday and Thursday this week.

Attention underclassmen: Yearbook photos will be taken on today and tomorrow in the library during English classes. Pick up a photo packet from your English teacher. If purchasing photos, money and packet must be turned in the day selected for photos. Any questions, see Mrs. Jerbi in Room 240.

Attention seniors: If you did not have your senior portraits taken with VIP this summer, retakes will be on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, Sept. 4, 5, and 6 in the library. Please go during your English class, lunch, PE, or study hall. Photos may be purchased onlne at a later date.

Attention students who have not picked up their 2019 yearbook: Please see Mrs. Jerbi in Room 240 before or after school to pick up your book.
