Sunday morning

Mixing standards

Before practice

• Check planning center and set up stage according to sound routing document
• Recall the worship global preset on the soundboard

• Press “Recall”, “VC Worship Template”, “Recall”

• If no bass player, change synth channel preset

• Press “Load”, “Synth + Sub”, “Load”

• Rename vocal mics to singer names on soundboard

Soundcheck (7pm)

• Ask entire band to play the loudest part of one of their songs (all at the same time) for 5 minutes until the sound person says to stop

• Use Pregain to make sure top level of each channel is between -12 & -6 dB (level meter)
• Set compressor threshold for each instrument:

• Vocals: at least 4 to 8 dB gain reduction
• Acoustic: at least 4 to 8 dB gain reduction
• Electric: aim for 4 dB gain reduction
• Keys: at least 4 to 8 dB gain reduction
• Synth: 0 to 4 dB gain reduction (synth designed to not be very dynamic)
• Bass: at least 8 to 12 dB gain reduction
• Drums: no initial compression needed

Very end of practice

• Store board preset

• Press “Store”,“[overwrite old date with Sunday’s date]”, “Store”

Sunday morning

1. Recall “Sunday Morning” preset

• Press “Recall”,“[today’s date]”, “Recall”

2. Practice transitions/adjustments within and between songs

3. Check pastor mic
