FNU PRIDE attends KSU 2017

The spring annual Kentucky State University Career Fair and exhibit was held in Frankfort KY, on March 29, 2017 with hundreds of undergraduate student attendees. Frontier Nursing University student ambassadors Nichole Jackson and James Johnson (pictured left) represented FNU and the Diversity PRIDE program, along with Mandy Hancock, the Program Coordinator of the Courier Internship Program at Frontier Nursing University.

The Kentucky State University Career Fair was a collaborative event that provided employers and graduate schools the opportunity to connect with hundreds of prospective undergraduate students. Job and internship opportunities ranged from nursing, education, to management, finance, communications, and jobs in public service. The KSU Career Fair is dedicated to improving student success through co-op placement, resume writing, employment, internship opportunities and graduate school.

FNU received a high volume of interest from attendees, which included over 20 interest cards from prospective students. Attendees met with FNU representatives to discuss continuing education specialty tracks in nursing. Mandy Hancock, FNU Courier Coordinator, (pictured right) discusses opportunities with KSU nursing students to pursue internships through FNU’s Courier Program.

The Courier Program is an eight week, rural and public health, service-learning program that targets college students with an interest in public health, health care or a related field. Student interns are given the experience of serving rural and underserved communities.

FNU PRIDE Ambassadors played a key role at the KSU Career Fair in spreading the word to prospective students about FNU. PRIDE Ambassador, James Johnson, enthusiastically states on social media, that he was glad for the opportunity “to help out and promote FNU”.

FNU connected with Kentucky State University organizers and also reached out to KSU’s Nursing Department to announce their participation in the annual KSU Career Fair. The FNU Courier Internship Program also provided a chance to network and connect with Kentucky State University’s Nursing Department to further establish positive relationships with nursing students and staff within the program.

The networking opportunities at KSU’s annual College Fair continue to serve as a platform to increase FNU’s visibility and Diversity Initiative collaborations with the organization.
