Camp Moonlight 2019 Bear Expedition Gear List

Here is what your camper will need to have a wonderful 3 days in the Montana backcountry: Please bring Tuesday Morning to camp.  

Campers will prep on Monday for the Tues and Wed overnights and return Thursday around lunchtime.  

Essentials:

Rain Gear (pants and jacket)

Adventurous spirit

Sturdy Hiking boots or shoes

Preferably not brand new, please don’t make this hike the first time they wear them

Non Cotton Layers (long underwear, long sleeve top, fleece)

Ball Cap/Beanie/Gloves

Positive Attitude

Hiking socks (3 to 4 pairs)

Underwear for 3 days

Sleeping clothes (only to be worn to sleep in, pajamas)

Head Lamp (extra batteries)

Toiletries (in a large Ziploc baggy labeled with your name on it)

Just the basics, remember you will be carrying it

Please include any medications with dosage and time table instructions

Sleeping Bag

Sleeping Pad

Backpacking Backpack (45 L or larger in size), pack cover

Lightweight hiking shorts/pants

Quick drying hiking shirt

Thinking Cap

Sunglasses

Water Bottle x 2 or a Hydration System (Camelback)

Camp Shoes (something other than hiking boots, closed toe such as sneakers or running shoes)

***Please leave the cotton at home and try to bring as much lightweight to medium weight layers

Nice to have, but remember you will be carrying it:

Small Camera

Book to read at night or on down time

Field Guides

Small camping pillow

What to Leave at Home:

Any extra food/snacks

Bad Attitudes

Bear Spray

Any devices (Iphone, Ipad, tablet, etc)
