JOURNEY DAY

INSTRUMENTS/REQUIRED MATERIALS

Required Materials for each instrument are available HERE. A hard copy of this information was also handed out to students. Having the right supplies helps students to be immediately successful in class. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Students will use a band book that will be individually checked out to them for the year, and have access to this material through their Smart Music subscription at home.

CONCERT DATES INFORMATION

Students received a green paper with all of their concert information for the year. Please be sure to look over these dates, particularly the concert dates on the list that are required part of the band class grade. There are also many optional events throughout the year that many of our band students choose to participate in as well. CONCERT ATTIRE

This week, students will have the opportunity to try on models for our traditional green, uniform polos. Students will wear these polos for all performances/concerts and can continue wearing them as their high school summer uniform.

SMARTMUSIC

Students renewed their Smartmusic subscriptions last week. If you have any issues logging in, please reach out to Mr. Green.

PRIVATE LESSONS

In class this week, we will be talking with students about Private Lessons opportunities. Private Lessons are THE BEST WAY for your student to have a personalized learning experience on their instrument! Over 50% of MMS Eighth Grade Band students choose to take lessons and over 75% of our high school band students choose to take private lessons. We will be talking more about private lessons in class next week, but can get more information on the Mason Band website HERE.

PERCUSSION AFTER-SCHOOL SECTIONALS

After school sectionals for all 7th grade percussion students continue this week! Sectionals are immediately after school from 2:45-3:30p in the MMS Band Room on Tuesday and Wednesday. Students need only attend ONE day - it will be the same lesson both days. You can view the full list of dates HERE.

Mason Band Boosters is thrilled to once again be partnering with Audi Cincinnati East for our 2025 Car Raffle. A HUGE thank you to them for the donation! We are very excited!

Raffle Period - Raffle runs NOW until November 7th at 5pm OR until 4,000 tickets are sold...whichever comes first!

Drawing - Saturday, November 8th, 2025 at the MSBA AAAAA Championships, hosted at Mason. Need not be present to win!

Dine and Donate!

Our next Dine & Donate event will be at Mad Monks Pizza Company, located at 753 Reading Road on Monday, September 29th from 6pm-9pm. This Dine and Donate event is during the Monday Night Football game for the Bengals. The band will get a portion of all pizza sales that evening. No flyer is necessary, just mention you are supporting the Mason band when ordering.

PTO Comet Chip-In Fundraiser

The MMS PTO will be running their largest fundraiser of the year this week. You can read more about it HERE.

William Mason High School Marching Band

The High School marching debuted their competitive show yesterday in Toledo! They finished second overall after advancing to finals. You can catch the band live at our home competition at Dwire Field on October 11.

Over the next few weeks, we will be talking to woodwind students about the possibility of potentially switching instruments to fill out our band sound. This includes the possibility of oboe, bassoon, bass clarinet, tenor saxophone and baritone saxophone. This Thursday, students will have the opportunity to try out bassoon.

MMS Concert Band

Hello MMS Band families!

INSTRUMENTS/REQUIRED MATERIALS

Required Materials for each instrument are available HERE. We had our first materials check this past weekend and will be continuing to follow-up with students that still have items to obtain. Having the right materials helps ensure that all of our students can get off to a fast start.

You can set up a rental through Buddy Rogers HERE, or let us know if you have questions. Students will use a band book that will be individually checked out to them for the year, and have access to this material through their Smart Music subscription at home.

8th GRADE NIGHT

Our annual 8th grade band night is on Friday, October 10th. 8th grade students have the opportunity to perform with the nationally recognized William Mason High School Marching Band at the home football game! Students received information in class on Thursday of last week. All 8th grade band students are required to attend.

Additionally, the cost of 8th grade band night is $15. This fee covers the students dinner after school and a special 8th grade night t-shirt! ALL students must register and pay the fee HERE. Registration was due this past Friday. If you have not registered, please do so ASAP.

MMS Symphonic Winds

Hello MMS Band families!

Required Materials for each instrument are available HERE. This information will also be passed out on the first day of school. We will be checking for required materials in class on Wednesday, August 27th to help any students that still need to get materials.

AFTER SCHOOL REHEARSAL DATES

One of the requirements for Symphonic Winds is participation in our after school rehearsals once a month (and weekly in February). You can find the dates for these rehearsals HERE. Please plan ahead to avoid absences. Our first rehearsal was last week and the students did an outstanding job! Our next after-school is on October 15th.

8th GRADE NIGHT

Our annual 8th grade band night is on Friday, October 10th. 8th grade students have the opportunity to perform with the nationally recognized William Mason High School Marching Band at the home football game!
