About

Mini Meets

$10 at registration, $15 registering later

7:00 pm on a Friday during the second half of the session

Level Prerequisites

Discovery

This entry-level group focuses on learning legal freestyle and backstroke, as well as starts.  Butterfly and Breaststroke will be introduced as well as flip-turn skills.

Swimmers in this level should plan on participating in our mini-meets! These are fun, in-house “meets” that give swimmers a chance to show-off their improved skills to parents and family members as well as try out new events without fear of disqualification.

Swimmers in this group should be able to swim the length of the pool (25 yards) unassisted.  Swimmers should not fear the deep end of the pool.

Prep

This is the next step in our entry-level groups.  Swimmers will learn legal breaststroke and butterfly as well as flip turns and starts.  Tuesdays will just be Prep swimmers.  Friday is blended with the fun and fit swimmers.

Swimmers in this level should plan on participating in our mini-meets! These are fun, in-house “meets” that give swimmers a chance to show-off their improved skills to parents and family members as well as try out new events without fear of disqualification.

Swimmers in this group should have participated in Discovery last year and have excellent freestyle and backstroke skills as well as a basic understanding of breaststroke and butterfly pieces.  Swimmers should be able to dive from the side of the pool.

Fun and Fit

This group is for swimmers who have completed the Prep level and wish to keep swimming but do not wish to compete.

Swimmers in this level should plan on participating in our mini-meets! These are fun, in-house “meets” that give swimmers a chance to show-off their improved skills to parents and family members as well as try out new events without fear of disqualification.

Swimmers should have the basic knowledge of all 4 strokes as well as starts and flip turns.

Practices with the BRONZE competitive group.

Teen Fit

This group is for swimmers who have been competitive swimmers but for various reasons cannot commit to the competitive team schedule but wish to keep active in the sport.

Swimmers in this level may feel they have “outgrown” our mini-meets. We encourage swimmers at this level to come to the mini-meets and help RUN the meets.

Swimmers should be able to complete a 200 IM as well as know all 4 strokes.  This group is also for swimmers who want to swim before high school season without USA Swim Meets.

Practices with the GOLD competitive group.

JUNIOR TEAM!

Level

About

Mini Meets

Level Prerequisites

Junior Team

This is an upgrade to any of recreational programs listed above.  The cost of joining the Junior Team is $90.  Joining the Junior team includes an upgrade to the full USA swimming registration for the entire season, which means all Junior Team Members can compete in all USA swim meets throughout the season, the ability to participate in the Pyramid of Success program and earn the prizes associated with this program, an invitation to the year-end banquet, and a team t-shirt (if upgrading to the Junior team by September 9th).

Note: Members of the Junior Team will need to purchase a team suit with a Piranha Aquatics logo since they will be participating in USA swim meets with the Competitive Team.  Junior Team parents are also expected to fulfill the service point requirement, which can be found on the last page of this Doc.

Swimmers in this level are encouraged to participate in our mini-meets. These mini-meets are FREE to all Junior Team athletes! These are fun, in-house “meets” that give swimmers a chance to show-off their improved skills to parents and family members as well as a chance to try out new events without fear of disqualification.

ANY swimmer in any of the above recreational programs can join the Junior team!  It’s a great opportunity to “try out” USA swim meets to see if your swimmer will enjoy the Competitive  Team in the future.

Mini-Meets

We will offer mini-meets once each session. These meets last approximately one hour, including a bit of free time swim fun at the end (time permitting). Typically, these are held on Friday nights from 7:00-8:00 p.m.

We strongly encourage ALL recreational swimmers to attend as many mini-meets as possible. The cost for mini-meets is $15. We are offering a $5 discount if you pay for the mini-meet at registration.  All you have to do is let the coaching staff know you are coming (via our website) and we will get your swimmer in the events we feel are most appropriate! You pay for your mini-meet on the next month’s billing cycle if you did not pre-pay.

Mini-Meet Dates:  Fridays, 7:00-8:30 pm.
