Enabling the meaningful exchange of ideas and discussion in a virtual setting requires dedicated spaces. Through Community Dialogues, OGP aims to encourage the open government community to engage and discuss open government relevant topics with peers in a more intimate setting.
In order to ensure a more interactive discussion, there is a cap of 60 participants which will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. If all the seats are filled, no worries! Strengthening OGP Civil Society in Francophone CountriesTime: 13:00-14:00 GMT | This community dialogue will build on momentum sparked by the francophone community to promote the principles of open government. An increasing number of Francophone OGP members, as well as countries reaching eligibility, has created a unique dynamic leveraging open government for inclusive and sustainable development. Open Government Solutions to Real World ProblemsTime: 15:00-16:30 GMT | Much of the conversation in the first 10 years of OGP has centered around the ambition of open government reforms. The next decade will be defined by their results. Although the implementation rate of OGP commitments has remained roughly the same throughout the years, there are still many questions about which are the key drivers of tangible results for citizens. Join this debate to bring together different perspectives based on experiences from reformers and open government research to explore what factors influence outcomes in open government commitments. Civic Innovations for Open Government in the Eastern PartnershipTime: 7:00-8:00 GMT | This community dialogue will create a marketplace for ideas of how OGP processes in the EaP region (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Republic of Moldova, and Ukraine) can be re-energized through civic action, mobilization of new stakeholder groups at national and local levels, and innovative approaches to foster ambition and collaboration in new and emerging themes. The moderated dialogue will follow an open mic format. Ideas could be considered for future mini-grants through OGP's EaP program and partner efforts. What’s Next for Algorithmic Transparency and Accountability?Time: 16:00-17:00 GMT | This dialogue will be an opportunity for people working on or interested in algorithmic transparency and accountability to connect with one another and explore current initiatives with the aim to discuss and evaluate the development of algorithmic accountability mechanisms around the world. Participants will discuss the concrete effects of existing measures, brainstorm on what will come next following the introduction of various transparency measures by governments, and how to ensure that transparency leads to accountability by involving the right actors at the right time. The Next Decade: Ideas for the Future of OGP in Asia PacificTime 2:00-3:30 GMT | Over the past decade, OGP has helped build a global movement of reformers inside and outside of government, who between them have co-created over 4,500 reforms to transform how government serves its citizens. In the Asia Pacific region, membership has grown from 6 members in 2011 to 13 national members and 17 local jurisdictions in 2021; with a total of 721 commitments covering a range of police areas including Beneficial Ownership, Civic Space, Extractive Industries, Gender, Justice, and Open Contracting, among others. However, the region has not been immune to global trends of polarization, closing civic space, and in some countries, stalling or reversal of momentum around open government.
