SVA Middle School Teachers Will:

  • Have a deep passion for learning and the subject matter being taught.
  • Support implementation of the SVA vision & mission, helping set the tone and culture.
  • Differentiate instruction to address various learning styles.
  • Demonstrate effective classroom management and discipline.
  • Communicate proactively with students, staff, and parents.
  • Attend Capturing Kids Hearts, a 3-day training, during the summer, if hired..
  • Develop curriculum with assistance from the Middle School Principal and/or Executive Director.
  • Understand that student learning is the measure of successful teaching.
  • Embrace feedback from administration in a continuous improvement modality.  
  • Implement the SVA standards-based grading policy.
  • Build appropriate professional relationships with students.
  • Collaborate with other SVA staff in all aspects of the school.

SVA PE Curriculum Details-Following is a suggested list of curriculum topics to be covered.

  • Students will be taught the benefit of Fitness Testing and establishing healthy SMART goals for a healthy lifestyle.
  • Students will learn the rules for and how to play the following sports: Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer, Football, LAX, and Badminton
  • Students will be able to invent a game, choreography a dance, or create a physical fitness exercise routine in students groups. They will teach their skills to the class.
  • YESS  program with the support of the SkyView SRO
  • Tae Kwon Do with the support of a local Tae Kwon Do studio
  • Students will participate in the Marathon Challenge


Duties:

  • Teach 5 classes a day as assigned based on full-time employment
  • Supervise after school detention as needed in cooperation with other Middle School faculty.
  • Be involved in the life of the school – Clubs, Sports, Community Service, and/or Character Program.
  • Monitor lunch and/or hallways on a rotating basis with other Middle School faculty.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Middle School Principal.


Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Meet Highly Qualified criteria for the state of Colorado
  • Proficient in Technology
  • Excellent Communication Skills
