What is Cooperative Education?

Co-Op is a CHS course that prepares students to succeed in the workplace through collaborative efforts of the school and businesses. As part of the program, students in 11th and 12th grades participate in a year-long, work-based learning, earning credit for class work and also for on-the-job experience.  Co-Op provides the student an opportunity to witness authentic business and industry settings for their potential career choice. Support will be provided to the student and employer from the Co-Op teacher throughout the school year. Our Co-Op students are released early from school so they are able to work for longer hours during the day.

How can I participate?

To participate in the co-op program, you must be a junior or senior, be eligible to work in the United States, and have transportation to/from the workplace.

How can the community help?

What we would need from a potential partner would be offering a paid, learning environment and opportunity for our students to grow and learn about their chosen field. By doing so, you would be helping to strengthen the pipeline between work and school, ensuring that our students are career-ready, and that you have a future work force that meets your needs.
