JC2033 Vision
17th April, Easter 2033, is the 2000-year anniversary of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Can we imagine this historic celebration? Could we dream for Olympic size celebrations in each country, concerts, major movie productions, TV shows, all pointing to Jesus and the reality that he is alive! And locally what about beautiful and creative gatherings in each village, and community, participation in an undeniable global witness to the risen Jesus?
JC2033 Mission
The JC2033 mission is to motivate the churches to prepare and celebrate this great anniversary. We want to mobilize and activate Christians everywhere to walk together with the risen Christ. We want to proclaim to the whole world with one voice that He has risen.
A Decade of Resurrection
Something of this scale and impact is not achieved overnight, so today we are announcing and launching something called The Decade of Resurrection. A ten-year period (Easter 2023 - Easter 2033) for Christians everywhere to engage, to dream together, to plan their anniversary gifts for Jesus on this historic occasion.
What Big Global Ministries are Planning
Already Christian leaders are starting to see the potential of 2033, and major ministries have started making plans. Let me share with you some of these exciting initiatives.
Evangelism: Finishing The Task and The Go Movement - Both have goals to reach every person on earth with the gospel of Jesus by the year 2033.
Church Planting: MM33 - Is an Assemblies of God initiative to see one million churches planted by the year 2033.
Bible Translators: - The Illumination project sees bible translators like Wycliffe and YouVersion coming together with a goal to make God’s word accessible to all people by 2033.
This is just a few of the many hundreds of initiatives already being prepared.
What is Your Dream?
We all have distinct talents and spheres of influence and this time, will only have maximum impact if every believer on the planet lives the values of JC2033 in this historic moment. So what is your dream for 2033? Let’s think much wider than a Church service, because many people will never hear about Jesus from within a Church building. But they would be excited to come to a musical performance. They would love a dance recital or a street party inspired by the resurrection. They would join business people for a social evening in the community or watch a TV series like The Chosen. And so the possibilities for 2033 are immense. We just need to take the time and to dream!
Let’s quickly take a moment and discuss with our neighbours…what is our area of passion and what could our anniversary gift be for Jesus for this anniversary.
JC2033 Values
Witness - By the year 2033 we want every person on the planet to have heard about Jesus. Yes, we need the Go Movement and all the evangelistic ministries with their 2033 targets. But we also need everyone to share this moment personally with family, neighbours and colleagues because witness is not just about proclamation.
Unity - What does it look like when every Christian around the planet comes together as one body with Jesus as the head? In such a divided world this type of Christian solidarity is a powerful testimony to the risen Jesus. We recognize that In many parts of the world Christian unity is a challenge so it is important to understand what we mean by this….we are not talking about one church, one theology, one tradition or communion. No we are simply identifying in this Easter moment with all Christian believers who are celebrating the resurrection and saving power of Jesus.
Celebration - There are so many ways to celebrate the 2000 years. Let's get creative. How about writing a theological book, getting busy on social media. What about hosting a community games night or arranging a feast for the homeless. We can do almost anything that shares the love of Jesus and points to the resurrection.
The JC2033 Ambassador Network
Do you know that JC2033 has a global ministry network of around 120 ambassadors who are part of a structured program? They give approximately 10% of their working time to JC2033. Ambassadors connect and work together, they get trained and equipped. They are commissioned and sent out to multiply! They importantly link the JC2033 movement to their church and ministry. Make sure your community is connected to the JC2033 movement.
