The Value of Goal Setting.

We set out to get to a travel destination with a map, providing us with an idea of where we are going. The value of doing same with our life is extremely well worth the thought, plan & action.  When it comes to achieving results from goals we set for ourselves, we want these results to fulfill us, last more than just a moment and move us forward.

I’m a little scared.

  1. How do I begin to set goals?
  2. How do I  implement some changes in my life?
  3. What if I fail?
  4. What if people judge me?
  5. If I set the wishy washy goals and don’t achieve them, am I in the wrong? Can I set new ones then?
  6. Maybe I’ll set one goal to begin with and take it from there (great idea!).

Keep it Simple.
Let’s walk before we can run. Have you heard this before? Sometimes we look so far ahead, applying these high, often unrealistic & hurtful expectations to ourselves to plan NOW, get it done NOW, achieve it NOW.  In reality this will set us up for the failure we may fear, leading us to not getting even one thing done. *Note, failure is not a feature in any PJ programmes, in fact, it’s a “banned word”. It's what we do with the feedback from “giving it a try”, that has all the meaning.

Accept you are not perfect.
What if it was found to be that you are this amazing human, who, like other humans, gets things out of sync now and then? Imagine that! So, let’s ease off this unrealistic perfection thinking.  You are You, imperfections & all. So gorgeously unique. Celebrate this, alot! Like, alot alot!

Accountability & Sustainability.

How are you with this? Being held accountable means hands up to do something, work it, then show up about it, report it and definitely own it! Aaaaagggh!  Does this make you cringe? OR do you love showing up, no matter what?

So what if you had the accountability, you are doing great guns, setting goals & smashing them out the park? Done. Done. Done. Done.  Like, a full on power machine? That’s you, they are all noticing YOU. YOU are noticing YOU. Wow! Unstoppable! Keep it going…..

Then….. What? You are heading back to where you started, asking yourself “why am I not sustaining this incredibleness, this accountability? I was holding accountability BUT it’s kind of slipping now, and I don’t understand.”

So, let’s ask a few questions first:
1)Are you a procrastinator?
2)A planner who never lifts off?
3)Ideas are blistering out of you, but nothing has yet hit the ground running? Least of all YOU.
4)Did you burst out the gates too fast & burned out?
5)Are you on your own now, treading water that’s too deep?
6)Who has your back?

Let’s begin.

You are ready right? You are onto this, goals are now your thing. Yes?
