What else do I need to do?
Provide shin guards. Children will not be allowed to play in practices or games without shin guards. Cleats designed for SOCCER only are recommended, not required. Sneakers are ok.
The uniform (jersey, shorts, socks), supplemental accident insurance, team and individual pictures are supplied by AYSO. Also, sign up to become an AYSO Volunteer!
Email: We will send out info via email blasts to all participants. Often it goes to junk/spam and comes from “Clubnews@Blue Sombrero” Mark us as a safe sender.
Emails only go to the primary account holder unless you sign up for secondary email alerts! Keep all caregivers up to date.
Text: Sign up to receive text messages for last minute changes to games/practices.
Sign up for both through your account on Blue Sombrero.
When will I know which team my child is on?
The volunteer coaches must have completed their training to receive player rosters. In some cases, that’s not until late August.
What do I do if I am not notified by late August?
Not all teams begin practice at the same time. The very young teams do not always begin practice until September. Also, some coaches are still completing their training. If you have not been contacted by 8/28, then contact us.
Practices: When do they start and where?
Usually late August, but 12U-19U teams may begin practicing earlier. Coaches will notify parents in August after getting their rosters and provide information on practice times and location. Coaches set their own practice days and times. Parents are expected to place a priority on soccer over other activities and adjust schedules accordingly. There are no team changes due to conflicts. Practices are held at Sea Cloud Park.
How often are practices and games?
Practices are held once week for 7U-10U & twice a week for 12U-19U. Games are every Saturday with the first game on 9/7/19. Games are played during Fall Break. Games and practices are held at Sea Cloud Park. Some games for 12U-19U will be played outside Foster City.
How long is the season?
Opening day is Sept 7. 4U-8U play through 11/16. 10U-14U play until 11/23 in the Hirschel Cup Tournament, and possibly into December.
AYSO is a parent-based volunteer organization established to provide a positive, safe, fun, and fair experience for our children. Go to the games. Learn the rules. Cheer but don’t coach from the sidelines. And, please be tolerant of the children’s, coach’s and referee’s mistakes.
