A student survey is also being sent out this week through Advisory Google classrooms.

Recycling initative: OneStepGreener NGO

OneStepGreener, NGO, presented at the MS assembly on Monday October 8th about the need for reducing and redirecting the waste Delhi generates. They educate and spread awareness to segregate, compost and recycle house waste (glass, metal, paper, plastic, cardboard and e-waste). They offer door-to-door pickup in Vasant Vihar, Shanti Niketan, Anand Niketan and West End and are looking to expand to other areas. The waste collected is weighed and paid for, ensuring that it is responsibly recycled and does not end up in a landfill. Another initiative is to plant 1,000,000 trees in Delhi. Any student/resident leaders who would like to volunteer to help with the initiative in their areas please sign up here or support by donating. For more information, please email or visit their website. You may also follow them on Facebook.

Ask your colleagues about:

Ask Grade 6 Humanities  about Noodletools. This is a research tool used in grades 6-12 and we are introducing it this week as they begin their study of Mesopotamia.

Ask Kyle about Tinkercad. His students are now using it to learn how to code Arduinos.

Ask Linda about libguides and also research skills. She has lots of great ideas for integrating tech and the library! We would both love to help.

Ask Grade 7 Humanities about their upcoming Harry Potter week in the makerspace! Wands(that light up!), erised mirrors and magical rocks!

Ask Gagan and Anu about their upcoming makerspace project for Delhi Out and About. Students will be making diyas to celebrate the festival of light!

Repeat/review of guidelines shared last week:

Final Chaperone Meeting on Wednesday after school

Trip leaders will be meeting with all chaperones on Wednesday from 2:35 - 3:00 to review important trip information. Please be on time, as this is a small window of time before we head over to the HS for our MSA meeting that day. A note will be sent out with the locations for each trip’s meeting, including the Delhi Out & About.

Water Bottles for WOW

All chaperones (and students) are required to bring 2 water bottles (1 litre each) that are refillable. AES is working with our vendors in the region to cut down on the plastic water waste. It’s a good idea to label your water bottles before the trip!

An inspiring day in Chennai on Friday. Our students were great ambassadors for AES and it was fun to see them interact with other MS students and play soccer. There is also a lot of potential for us as educators to share and learn from each other. The AD’s and Administrators spent some of the day planning and developing a shared understanding about ASIAC. We also began to think how we can collaborate together as teachers to grow our professional practice. Thanks to Rick and our Coaches, Saleem Blevins, Rob Campbell, Becky Currey, Remy Uriel, Erlend Jorgensen and Kate Elkins.
