  2. New Business
  1. GMM.21.07: Move to amend the description of the Ella B. Irby Professional Development Scholarship from “ARID will pay for 1 hotel room, two conference registrations, and two travel arrangements for the members.” to “ARID will award a total package of $2,000 (Karen Owens, Raphael James) up to $4,000, which is to be used by the selected recipients to fund their travel, accommodations, and registration.” (DEIC, Nicholas Winchell)

Discussion regarding above motion GMM.21.07:

  1. Which conference?

For any BIPOC conference - 2 people will travel to a conference that is specific to the goal of the presentation. The attendees will go to the conference, learn, then come back and present what they have learned to the membership.

If the original intent is to cover all costs, we know that $1,000 may not cover this all. I want an amendment to show that we can cover this.

It was seen that a number must be shown so that we do not have a blank check and we have an ability to budget.

  1. The intent is to attend and learn about BIPOC.

Amendment:

GMM.21.07: Move to amend the description of the Ella B. Irby Professional Development Scholarship from “ARID will pay for 1 hotel room, two conference registrations, and two travel arrangements for the members.” to “ARID will award a total package of $2,000 (Karen Owens, Raphael James) PASS up to $4,000, which is to be used by the selected recipients to fund their travel, accommodations, and registration.” (DEIC, Nicholas Winchell)

Discussion

  1. Receipts should be attached.
  2. $4,000 per individual or the pair? The pair.
  3. Should add that it should be approved by the board if they will go over.
  4. Where is this being funded from? Do we need to worry about this cost?

Funds are raised by the community - Clint raised $800+ from his birthday fundraiser! We have some funding and the DEIC will raise the funds. A percentage from the silent auction will go toward this scholarship as well. Also, we will have a saved honorarium and the cost of the registration. A Community event will be scheduled by the DEIC.

  1. ARID will award a total package of up to $4,000 which is to be used by the selected recipients to fund their travel, accommodations, and registration.

GMM.21.07: Move to amend the description of the Ella B. Irby Professional Development Scholarship from “ARID will pay for 1 hotel room, two conference registrations, and two travel arrangements for the members.” to “ARID will award a total package of up to $4,000, which is to be used by the selected recipients to fund their travel, accommodations, and registration.” (DEIC, Nicholas Winchell) PASS (CALL THE QUESTION - PASS)
