Faculty/Staff roles for Fort Frenzy Day. Everyone has been assigned a color team. If you don’t have a role during the afternoon, please let Robb,Maureen or your Fort General know if you would like to be a photographer, help in one of the activities, or act as a “help desk” to keep kids moving to their next activity!! All hands on deck. If you are a crossover or part-time teacher/TA, let us know if/when you would be available that day as you are welcome to participate!!

Schedule for Friday.

11:50-12:15 Lunch in the Rock Garden(all MS)

12:15-12:25 Fort Frenzy Intro(sit with your color group) HOP

12:30-2:55 Activity Rotations(10 stations) Middle School Field, Gate 2 Basketball courts, Gate 1 Futsal court

3:00-3:20 All School Capture the Flag, Middle School Field

During the Activity rotation portion, each Team will rotate through 10 stations. Here are the rotations by Group and by Activity. One station will be water, snack and rest. This station will be located at the bottom of the ramp down from the library. We will also have a Medical station there all afternoon.

Advisories this week:

Tuesday: All MS assembly. Fort Frenzy information for students.

Wednesday: Student Groups: In individual advisories, please let your advisees know their color group and their team number(this will also be posted in your Advisory Google Classroom). The spreadsheet has tabs with all groups, groups by color and groups by advisory.  Most students are the same color that they are for their PE Olympic group.  If someone is missing, please let us know immediately!!

Thursday: Robb and Maureen will meet with Grade 8 Advisories in the studio for the first 5 minutes of advisory. 8th grade students will act as team leaders on Fort Frenzy day. We will explain the schedule and their roles. On Friday, they will receive their team members’ names, their team schedule and be responsible for helping their group maneuver the day!

Friday: Advisory will meet for 15 minutes to again go over the plan for the day in individual advisories and to pass out t-shirts. A reminder that NO iPads on the MS field, they should remain in their lockers.

At 12:15pm on Friday, everyone will meet in the HOP for final instructions. You will need to sit with your color group and help kids find their smaller teams within their color groups before they head to the MS field.

A huge thanks to our PSA who have supported us with snacks and t-shirts and to the MS team for being so flexible in what should be a fun community-building afternoon, perhaps the start of a new tradition!

March 28 is a full day of service learning, there will be no regularly scheduled classes. Please be aware that since there is no 1-8 period day this week, you will need to plan for this. March 27th is a day 8(8567), March 28th-no classes will meet, March 29th is a day 1(5678). Teams will be communicating more information about this day. Grade 6 will be on campus, Grade 7 will do an Aanchal school exchange and Grade 8 will do their PeOPle project Field trips.

Please let Melissa or Anthea know this week if you will not be here during conferences this semester. Lalit will be sending the link to parents and it helps to avoid confusion and frustration if your name is removed from the sign-up link.  Here is the guidelines for Parent Teacher Conferences

Please take accurate attendance as it helps us to track and follow up with students who are having issues. If you are having an issue with a student coming to class on time please email the parents and loop in the counselors or one of the administrators.

IMPORTANT: Planning for Professional Learning

To help us in the MS office ensure that the learning continues while you are away for professional learning please submit your leave requests and contact Pooja as soon as possible.

Here’s What We Know:

Google Calendars! You can easily add all of your classes to your Google Calendar. See here for the tutorial!

Makerspace:  The makerspace is open for business! Do you have an idea on how you might use the space? Something you want kids to design? Let me know! We would love to work with you and get you into that space!

Ask your colleagues!

Ask Courtney about Project Runway. Students are designing and sewing the costumes for the play. It is a flurry of activity during period 8. Stop by!

Ask Christie and Jeni about enabling speech on the iPad. This allows the student to highlight a text and have the iPad read it to them. Students go to General--Accessibility--Speech and turn on Speak Selection and Speak Screen. This has proven to be very helpful with our language learners.

Ask Revati about the Dance class. She is planning on them coming to the makerspace to make costumes/props for their next dance performance.

Ask Kate E about using the makerspace for PE class and student designing a game that works all parts of their bodies!

Ask Kimberlyn about Flipgrid. They are using it in Graphic Design to post their progress on a current project and give each other feedback

Professional Development Opportunities: A list of conferences for technology has been added to the office of teaching and learning website..under Other conferences.
