Welcome to NELCWIT. My name is Sarah and I’m the agency’s Community Collaborations Coordinator. Since 1976, when four local women met around a kitchen table to address violence in Franklin County, NELCWIT has served the area as a domestic and sexual violence resource center.
NELCWIT offers free and confidential services to survivors of sexual and domestic violence. Our services include individual trauma-informed counseling in English and Spanish; support groups facilitated by advocates; a 24/7 crisis line; assistance with restraining order applications; legal advocacy consultations and help with filing for state benefits. We have a dedicated counselor for LBGTQ clients, as well as two fluent Spanish-speaking counselors. Monday through Friday 9-4 we offer walk-in hours at our office in Greenfield, during which clients can also pick up locally grown produce and access our free clothing closet. We operate a satellite office in Orange, to serve the North Quabbin Community Our supervised visitation program, the Franklin County Child Visitation Program, offers supervised, safe visits for non-custodial parents and their children in a dedicated Greenfield office. In my capacity as Community Collaborations Coordinator, I also offer training about the dynamics of intimate partner violence for other social service organizations and community groups.
We live in a time where programs like those at NELCWIT are in increasing demand during a turbulent time. In the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, our advocates are offering counseling by phone and secure video; intakes for counseling can be done by calling our crisis line, as can intakes for the visitation program. To learn more about NELCWIT’s mission and services, feel free to explore this website and our Facebook page at facebook.com/NELCWIT. Our crisis line is always available at 413-772-09806 or toll free at 888-249-0806. The crisis line is also accessible by TTY or Mass Relay 711. Thank you for watching this video, and stay safe!
