Distance Learning:

In the event we have to move to distance learning, students will be given assignments through Google Classroom. The Zoom call links will be listed in the stream portion of their Google Classroom. Students are expected to arrive in the waiting room 5 minutes prior to start time. Videos must be on and microphones muted.

Assessments and Grading:

Students will receive a grade weekly for the following: Spelling/Root Word Packet, Weekly Grammar Assignment, Weekly Journal Grade, and Weekly Writing Assignment. At least two grades per week will be posted to Teacher Ease.

Students scoring below a 70% will have an opportunity to redo the assignment and the average score received with the revised score on a case by case basis.

Grading Scale:

90-100 A

80-89   B

70-79   C

60-69   D

Below 60 F

Tests Required:  

Fifth Grade State Writing Test

Homework Guidelines:

Any work not completed in class is homework and due the next day. Students may have to finish drafting and typing their essays outside of class. Late work will automatically lose 20% off for up to five days.  Assignments not turned in 5 days after the due date, will become an automatic 0 in the grade book.

Helping all Students Learn:

Students will work independently and in groups. Assignments will be on grade level. Students needing extra support will work with a partner or team. Students needing enrichment may work on a project that aligns with the standards.
