Call of Duty Modern Warfare Gunfight Arena Cup Ruleset

1 Eligibility

1.1 Player Eligibility

Each CODMW Gunfight Arena Cup team must consist of at least 2 team members

Players must be at least 18 years of age to be eligible to enter.

1.2 Additional Eligibility

Players must use their own account to compete in the CODMW Gunfight Arena Cup.
If a player does not own CODMW they may be able to use a Belong account. These are subject to availability.

If a player’s account is banned or suspended for any reason, they may not participate in the CODMW Gunfight Arena Cup

2 Format

2.1 Stage One

The format for stage one will be a Swiss Format.

All Matches in Stage One will be Best of Three (First to 2 game wins)

Teams will be placed into a Swiss bracket and the amount of rounds will be dependant on participants to a maximum of 8 rounds. The top 8 teams based on match wins will advance to the playoffs

Tiebreakers will be used in the following order:

2.2 Playoffs

The Playoffs will be an 8 team Double Elimination bracket.

All playoff matches will be Best of Three (First to 2 game wins)

The finals will be played as a Best of Five (First to 3 game wins)

2.3 Score Reporting

All scores will be reported through Challonge.

Admins must add 1 set per game played, and score each set based on rounds won by each team.

3 Game Mode

3.1 Gunfight

All matches are to be played on the Gunfight game mode.

3.2 Maps

The following maps will be used for the Arena Cup

4 Match setup

4.1 Rosters

Team Admins must submit starting rosters, with full in game names, to their opponents via discord 1 hour prior to each match.

4.2 Map selection

4.2.1 Stage One Maps

For stage one the initial map will be preselected based on the round. The loser of each map will select the next map from the map pool. Initial Host is decided by a coin flip. The losing team will then always host.

4.2.2 Playoffs Best of 3 Process

Higher seed will pick first map, The loser of each map will select the next map from the map pool.

4.2.3 Best of 5 Process

Maps are chosen through a pick and ban process. A coin flip decides pick order, the team that wins the coin flip can choose to be Team A or Team B.

  1. Team A bans 1 Map
  2. Team B bans 1 Map
  3. Team A picks Map 1
  4. Team B picks Map 2
  5. Team A picks Map 3
  6. Team B  Picks Map 4
  7. Remaining Map becomes Map 5

Whoever picked map the other team hosts.

4.3 Lobby Settings

5 Restrictions

5.1 General Restrictions

Players may not use mouse and keyboard. All other controllers are permitted

6 Disconnects

If more than one Player disconnects, or a Player disconnects after another Player has been killed the process is as follows:

  1. Round is to be finished with the Players still in the lobby.
  2. At the end of the round, Teams are required to take a screenshot or video of the scoreboard.
  3. At the start of the next round, the host is to return all Players to the Lobby.
  4. Once all Players have entered the lobby and the game has been launched, Teams should recreate the round score through to the round the Player(s) disconnected.

8 Game Specific Infractions

8.3 Failure to Attend         Penalty: Game Loss

Teams must be ready to play at the scheduled times on the fixtures master document.

Up to 10 minutes may be used if difficulties occur in regard to getting players in-game. If it is likely a team is either going to be late or miss the scheduled start time, then the team’s coach or arena staff must report the fact to the representative via pre-approved discord channels (DMs or other platforms of communication are not acceptable).

If a fixture has not started 20 minutes after the scheduled start time due to a player not being in attendance on time, then that player will receive a Game Loss. After another 10 minutes that player will receive a further Game Loss.

All other players should continue through their games during this time if able.

In the case of technical issues, the representative will decide and relay the decision to each tribe. Teams will not be forced to forfeit any games due to technical issues.

8.4 Rehosts                Penalty: Game Loss

Giving an invalid reason for a rehost, or leaving the match before having approval to do so will lead to instant game loss to the player that uses it.

8.5 Unlisted Penalties

If an admin or player believes a rule has been broken and there is no assigned punishment for it, they must contact the representative as soon as possible with details and evidence. The representative will judge the case and assign a punishment if required
