This tutorial only applies to rooms utilizing AppleTV for their instructional technology.

There are two display options while casting to your TV/AppleTV during your instructional time.

By default, when you cast your computer to your TV/AppleTV it will select the ‘Mirror Display’ option. If you would like to cast an image to your TV/AppleTV, but continue to do work on your laptop then you will need to follow the instructions listed below to disable ‘Mirror Display’.

  1. Click the Apple Logo in the top left corner of your screen and select ‘System Preferences

  1. In the bottom left corner, select ‘Displays’

  1. Select ‘Arrangments’ in the top menu bar and then uncheck the box that says ‘Mirror Displays’.

  1. Once the ‘Mirror Displays’ box is unchecked you can close out the window.

  1. In order to display 1 window to the TV/AppleTV while continuing to work on your laptop all you need to do is click-and-drag a window over to the TV/AppleTV Display. As seen in the image below you just need to know which direction the secondary display is located and drag the window in that direction.
