Answer Who, What, Where, When, Why and How?

  1. Percents, decimals and fractions with candy.

·          Open a small bag of candy that has multiple colors (Skittles work best).  If you don’t have candy, you could use cereal, legos, or anything you may have around the house with multiple colors.

·          Separate the candy, or whatever you have, by colors and record how many of each color on a sheet of paper.

·          Write each of the colors as a fraction (ex: if there are 17 skittles in the bag and 4 of them are purple, the fraction would be 4/17).

·          Then convert these fractions into decimals AND percents.  You can use a calculator for this.

·          When you finish this, make sure all the percents add up to 100%.

·          Make a circle graph of the data.  Make sure each piece of the circle graph is labeled with the color and the percent.

·          You are done!  Now take a picture of it and send it to Mr. DeBoer   ryan.deboer@milaca.k12.mn.us
