Dear Denver District Attorney Beth McCann,

We the undersigned have the following demands for Denver District Attorney Beth McCann:

• The immediate acquittal of Jordan Waddy on the charges of 3 Counts of Possession Of a Weapon by a Previous Offender (POWPO) and 1 count 3rd degree assault
• One count of attempted second degree murder for Meagan Lieberson, Brandon Ramos and Kenneth Rowland for trying to kill Jordan Waddy
• One count of first degree assault for every shot fired by each officer
• One count of reckless endangerment for every person in the crowd for Meagan Lieberson, Brandon Ramos and Kenneth Rowland
• Fire Meagan Lieberson, Brandon Ramos and Kenneth Rowland from DPD
• Prevent Meagan Lieberson, Brandon Ramos and Kenneth Rowland from being hired as law enforcement in the future in the City of Denver
• Full financial restitution for the victims of the police shooting, including but not limited to Jordan Waddy, Bailey Alexander, Yekalo Weldehiwet, and Willis Small IV.

        In the early morning hours of July 17th, 2022, Jordan Waddy and 6 others were shot by irresponsible Denver Police officers. At approximately 1am, as patrons of Larimer Beer Hall and other surrounding businesses were gathering on the street, Megan Lieberson, Brandon Ramos, and Kenneth Rowland fired their weapons into a crowd of people in an attempt to kill Jordan Waddy, a 21-year-old Black man, who held his hands in the air and threw away his weapon as the police shot him and injured 6 other people.

The police allege that Mr. Waddy was engaged in a physical altercation outside the bar. Their response to a perceived scuffle was to draw their weapons and point them into a crowd while Waddy had his hands in the air. Bodycam and street camera footage clearly shows from multiple angles that the police had their hands on their weapons and even pointed at Mr. Waddy before they could confirm he had a weapon. This response was escalatory, violent, and could have killed multiple civilians. The police also claim that Mr. Waddy pointed a gun at the police. Direct video evidence from the police body cams disprove this. Mr. Waddy is clearly seen tossing the gun away. This makes the use of deadly force by the officers utterly unjustifiable. Considering there was a large crowd around Jordan Waddy and 6 others were shot, the use of force was also reckless. They pose a clear threat to Denver residents, and they must face consequences.

On the other hand, Jordan Waddy has been charged with 3 counts of Possession Of a Weapon by a Previous Offender and 1 count of third degree assault despite being made a victim of Denver PD. He must be acquitted of all charges. No sentence for any of the crimes he has been charged with include being sent to a firing squad. He has been punished enough.

Denver District Attorney Beth McCann, you were heralded as a progressive reformer and as someone who would work for the people of Denver. Instead you have decided to side with the police force against the people. Your decision to charge Jordan Waddy while not charging the officers does not make us safer. It puts us in danger by emboldening police to commit crimes–even mass shootings–knowing they will not be punished. We will not wait for the next victim. Do what is right. Do what you were elected to do. Do your job.
