- Completed Eight (10) Drills
- To date, we have conducted eight (9) emergency drills. We have conducted 6 evacuation drills and two (2) lock-down drills. We have 2 more emergency drills left. (2 soft lockdown and 1 evacuation)
- Drills must be completed unannounced to simulate a real evacuation.
- When the weather is above 32 degrees, we conduct fire drills.
- Progress has been made compared to last year around this time!
We need to work with our community to prevent the 15% at risk from becoming chronically absent to meet our CEP goals. Unfortunately, , despite our initiatives, there is a 1 percent increase in chronically absent students this year as compared to last. There are many absences on parent teacher conferences dates. Some parents are requesting to have remote school on that day. Parents should reach out to the chancellor if a remote day is preferred.
- Schools environment survey
The 2024 NYC School Survey administration window opened on Monday, February 12 and will close on Friday, April 5.
- We are being awarded the 2024 District 25 Respect for All Award for our commitment to creating and fostering an inclusive and supportive school culture and climate! Our school's achievement will be celebrated at the upcoming CEC meeting, held on Wednesday, March 6, 224 at 7:00pm (www.d25.nyc/cec/)
- Last month we had our celebration show for Marquis Studios. It was a great success.
- A “State of the School Meeting” will be held for our community. We will review our plans to show what we are doing to help our students and community. FLyers will be sent home and communications will be sent through DOJO to encourage parent involvement. We will review HMH data, Acadience and I-ready data and Math Module Assessments.
- Parents should visit our school website to learn about school activities and get information about PD sessions that parents can participate in. If parents are requesting changes or need to learn about curriculum or teaching strategies, please come.
- Independent or class biographies on famous women.
- Students can have a living wax museum where they dress up like the famous person and present what they have learned about the person.
- Focus on women in arts for a week. After introducing the students to the artist, have students create art pieces in the artist’s style as a tribute.
- Older grades can take a virtual field trip to womenshistory.org (They are booked for March but maybe we can get for the beginning of April.)
