Schools Will Reopen Thursday, September 5th

All St. Lucie County

Board of County Commissioners offices, including libraries and special

facilities, as well as the Clerk of the Court, Courthouse, Property Appraiser,

Supervisor of Elections and Tax Collector will be closed through Wednesday,

Sept. 4.

The St. Lucie County

Board of County Commission meeting for Tuesday, Sept. 3 and the Code Compliance

meeting for Wednesday, Sept. 4 have been canceled.

All St. Lucie County

beaches, parks and preserves are closed. Lifeguards have been pulled from the

beaches to assist with shelters.

Preliminary reports show that the City of Fort Pierce has fared exceptionally well in the wake of Hurricane Dorian. Our community has once again showed great resiliency in the face of uncertainty. We are Fort Pierce strong!

North and South Bridges are open to the public.

 

City Facilities

We are looking forward to welcoming the public back to City Hall and City facilities on Thursday, September 5.

 

Indian Hills Golf Course

Staff will be cleaning up debris today, followed by a complete mow of the course. Indian Hills will reopen to the public tomorrow, September 5 with normal business hours.

 

Fort Pierce City Marina

Fort Pierce City Marina fared extremely well and will reopen to the public on Thursday, September 5.

 

Public Works

Public Works crews are out today cleaning storm debris from city streets, right of ways, pedestrian accesses, parks and city facilities.

 

Solid Waste

Trash collection will resume normal service on Thursday, September 5. Normal household garbage and recycling collection will take place on the resident’s next scheduled day. Residents with yard waste and storm debris should separate material in two piles along the right of way, not in the road.

 

Jetty Park

Jetty Park did not sustain major damage and is open to the public.

 

Parking Garage

The city’s downtown parking garage is still at capacity; however, the garage is open for residents to remove their vehicles.

 

Power Outages

Fort Pierce Utilities Authority: At this moment, there are no reported power outages. If you experience an outage, please contact FPUA at 772-466-1600. Use the outage map at the following link to check your address and the status of an outage: www.fpua.com

St. Lucie Public Schools and Indian River State College are expected to reopen on Thursday, September 5.

City Updates

•        Sign Crews are doing an initial assessment of traffic signals and major roadways which should be completed by 2 p.m. All traffic signal heads are being rehung and reinstalled today.

•        Building Department conducted an assessment throughout the city immediately following the storm. Staff was relieved to find negligible damage throughout the City.

Openings and Hours of Operation:

•        Citywide collection will resume on Thursday, September 5, when the St. Lucie County Landfill reopens for business. If your garbage service was Tuesday, your next pickup will be Friday. If your garbage pickup was Wednesday, your next pickup is Saturday. Recycling for these routes should also be Friday and Saturday respectively. If your garbage pickup day is Thursday it will be picked up Thursday, September 5.

•        The Police Department have resumed normal patrol operations and response to calls for service.

•        Utility Systems Department’s Call Center (772-873-6400) is fully staffed and available 24 hours a day. Utility Systems is in the process of assessing any damage to Utility sites.

•        Parks & Recreation Facilities (Civic Recreation & Humana Fitness & Wellness Center, Community Center & Community Fitness & Wellness Center, Robert E. Minsky Gymnasium, and all City Parks) are open to the public during normal business hours today, except for The Saints Golf Course. The Saints remains closed to the public today, Wednesday, September 4, 2019. Please see below for more details on the anticipated re-opening of the Saints.

•        The Saints Golf Course intends to be reopened to the public tomorrow, Thursday, September 5, 2019, per normal business hours and will be opened for play on the cart path only. This reopening depends on the amount of rainfall received today, Wednesday, September 4, 2019.

•        Today, September 4, 2019, C-24 Canal Park and Oak Hammock Park resume normal operating hours. Both facilities will be closed as of sunset daily per normal operating hours. Veterans Park at Rivergate remains open to the public 24 hours daily.

and reopening schools on Friday, September 6th.  12-month employees should report to their normal work

Final Advisory on Hurricane Dorian

 

Stuart, FL - City emergency response operations have been demobilized and city offices have reopened at their normal hours of operations.  However, as a result of the currently closed Martin County landfill operations, garbage and recycling collection services, including bulk items and yard trash, have been modified to the following schedule for the remainder of this week:

  • Customers whose regularly scheduled garbage collection is Monday, your collection will occur on Thursday, September 5th.
  • Customers whose regularly scheduled garbage collection is Tuesday, your collection will occur on Friday, September 6th.
  • All residential garbage collection will resume their normal schedule of operations next week.  
  • Residential recycling will not be collected this week but will resume its regular schedule next week.  
  • Regularly scheduled commercial collection will resume on Thursday, September 5th with normal service schedule resuming next week.
  • Customers whose regularly scheduled yard trash collection is Monday, your collection is occurring today.  
  • Customers whose regularly scheduled yard trash collection is Tuesday, your collection will occur on Thursday, September 5th.
  • Customers whose regularly scheduled bulk item collection is Thursday, your collection will occur on Friday, September 6th.
