Career and Technical Education (CTE) |
CTE Schools provide specialized training and certificate opportunities for students with specific career interests. Career fields are numerous and vary offering opportunities for everyone. Some examples include: computer technology, cosmetology, health care, real estate and business. See the links below for additional information. |
4-Year College planning |
- The details and deadlines involved in planning to attend a 4-year college are demanding. If this is your path, here is your checklist. It will help you stay organized from each month until graduation.
- Contact the colleges to which you plan to apply and ask about the application process and related deadlines.
- Applications: All your applications should be completed this fall. Use the Common Application whenever possible. The CCWC staff are hosting a Zoom event in October to review this process and provide you with helpful tips, resources and best practices.
- Testing: Some scholarship providers and colleges use scores from admissions tests for determining awards or your starting point for college level work. The most common of these are the SAT and ACT.

- Recommendation Letters: Some schools require recommendation letters. Choose someone who knows you well and can easily highlight your strengths such as teachers, coaches, employers or guidance counselors. - Financial Aid: Navigating Financial Aid can be overwhelming. This seminar provides some great info to understand the process and get started. - Community College-Bound? 17 Community Colleges in Oregon. Many offer CTE and certificate programs and the Oregon Promise works for all of the community colleges across our state.
- Partnership Programs: Several 4-year colleges in Oregon have partnership programs with local community colleges. These programs are an affordable advantage and allow students to transfer credits easily, take classes while accessing resources and services at both colleges.
