ACT Prep (9th through 12th grade) – Fall 2023 or Spring 2024
Course Description: This course will expose students to the various facets of the ACT. English, Math, Reading and Science subtests will be covered. (The writing portion of the ACT will NOT be covered.) Students will be provided with the opportunity to take the subtests of the ACT multiple times and will receive feedback after each subtest.
Instructor: Mrs. Monica McDaniel graduated with a BS in Accounting and an MS in Tax Accounting from the University of North Texas. She passed her Certified Public Accountancy Exam on the first try and before a calculator was allowed on the test😊. She retired from public accounting in 2001 when her 3rd son was born. She returned to school in 2014 and received her MA in Biblical Studies from Birmingham Theological Seminary in 2020. She has been married to Bob McDaniel for 34 years. Her family was actively involved in foster parent ministry for 15 years. They have 3 sons who are high school graduates and a daughter in 9th grade. Mrs. McDaniel has served as the director of Chelsea Tutorials for 15 years. Also, she is an Assistant Scoutmaster for Scouts BSA Troop 1119 of which her daughter is a member.

Required Texts: I will purchase this book for your student. Your student is required to bring this book to every class.

3-ring notebook and paper
Pencils and highlighters
Calculator (TI -30XS IIS or TI -83 or TI-84)
Location: St. Catherine’s Episcopal Church, 642 Kings Home Drive, Chelsea, AL
Day: Thursdays
Time: 8:45 – 10:15 (Section A) OR 10:30 - 12:00 (Section B) OR 12:15 - 1:45 (Section C) (Students must be on time!)
Grade Level: 9th - 12th grade (Note: Only students who have C averages or better in their coursework will be accepted.)
Credit Value: Class will be 1.5 hours long and students will complete all assigned work during class. Students may wish to complete additional assignments on their own to prepare for the ACT. This class may count toward an elective. This is a one semester class. Students may take this class, and be awarded this credit, multiple times.
Tuition and Fees:
Administrative Fee: $50 per student enrolled in the program, due at the time of registration, refundable through 6/30/23, payable to Grace Presbyterian Church, PCA.
Registration Fee: $25 nonrefundable payable to Monica McDaniel at the time of registration. Venmo Monica-McDaniel-15.
Book Fee: $35 nonrefundable payable to Monica McDaniel at the time of registration. Venmo Monica-McDaniel-15.
Tuition: $195 per semester, due on the first day of class, payable to Monica McDaniel. Venmo Monica-McDaniel-15.
Facility Fee: The semester facility fee for this class is $30 per student, not to exceed $180 per family. This fee is payable to Grace Presbyterian Church, PCA, on the first day of class.
Class Minimum: Class will have a minimum of 3 students and a maximum of 8 students. If class minimum is not reached, class may be canceled and the registration fee will be refunded.
