Friends of Austin Neighborhoods Helps Neighbors Connect with City Council Candidates

AUSTIN, TEXAS (2018-09-24) - As it did during the last city council election season, Friends of Austin Neighborhoods (FAN) is working with candidates and the community to create and maintain the ultimate guide to connecting with the 2018 city council candidates.

The guide includes a complete list of city council races and candidates, along with their email addresses, websites, Facebook pages, Twitter profiles, and LinkedIn profiles.

You may view the guide on the FAN website here.

FAN welcomes members of the media to republish the guide, in whole or in part, in their publications and broadcasts, as long as they credit FAN as the source.

“In the past, neighbors have found it challenging to connect with city council candidates directly in order to better understand their platforms and positions,” explained FAN’s president, Nathan Ryan. “Technology, social media, and other ways of connecting with candidates can overcome this challenge—but only if neighbors can easily access contact information for each of the candidates.”

FAN represents about 3,000 neighbors (homeowners, renters, and small business owners) among its 16 member neighborhood associations and individual members living in 184 other neighborhoods throughout the city. A complete list of member neighborhood associations and individual members is on the FAN website.

Friends of Austin Neighborhoods (FAN) is a coalition of neighborhood associations and neighborhood residents reclaiming the word “neighborhood” to include the full diversity of voices.
