Project: Junior’s “Hero’s Journey”

In your groups, you will create a map of Junior’s hero journey on chart paper!

STEP 1: Brainstorm ideas in your group for how you can best represent Junior’s Hero Journey. Remember: it does not need to be in a circle like the diagram we looked at in class. How else can you show that someone has grown and changed? Do IN CLASS Friday 9/14

STEP 2: Divide and conquer! Assign different stages to each member of the group → EVERYONE needs to be responsible for a part of the project! CLASSWORK  Friday 9/14

STEP 3: Gather evidence to support your stages. Be sure to have a quote AND an explanation for how it fits the stage. WEEKEND HOMEWORK - due Monday 9/17.*  Example below ⇩

STAGE 3: Refusal of the Call

QUOTE

EXPLANATION

“‘I can’t be a wizard...I’m just Harry” (Rowling 63).

This quote represents Refusal of the Call because Harry is hesitant to accept that his life is about to change. He thinks that he cannot really be a wizard.

*use the back of THIS paper to do your homework/ collect your evidence! If you are torn between multiple quotes, record them all - you will have time on Monday to talk it out with your group.

STEP 4: Put everything together on your chart paper! The stages, images, and cited quotations should be combined in a creative and visually appealing way. CLASSWORK 9/18 - 9/21

Your grade will come from:

  1. your finished product - group grade, 50%
  2. the quotes you were responsible for, w/ context & explanation - individual grade, 40%
  3. peer and self-evaluation - 10%
