February 1, 2024

Dear AESD Families,

We hope this letter continues to find you and your family in good health and spirits. The following update is provided to keep you informed regarding the Anaheim Elementary School District:

February has arrived, bringing three significant observances that hold immense importance: Black History Month, Heart Health Awareness Month and Make Kindness Contagious Month.

Let us take a moment to reflect on the rich tapestry of African American history and honor the contributions of individuals who have played pivotal roles in shaping our nation. This is an opportunity for all of us to deepen our understanding, celebrate diversity, and foster an inclusive environment within our school community.

February is dedicated to raising awareness about heart health.  Let us use this month to prioritize self-care and spread awareness about heart-healthy habits that contribute to overall well-being.

February has also been named 'Make Kindness Contagious Month,' and here at AESD, we're embracing the challenge. Let's spread acts of kindness like wildfire, creating a ripple effect of positivity. Small gestures can make a big impact, so let's make this month a beacon of warmth and compassion. Together, we can make kindness contagious!

Parent Engagement Calendar:  We are excited to share with you our February calendar for parent engagement, which you can access through the English and Spanish links. We warmly invite you to join us in various activities and events throughout the month, where we can work together to strengthen the bond between home and school. We look forward to your continued partnership.

CalKIDS: The California Kids Investment and Development Savings Program (CalKIDS) was launched in 2022 to help California children prepare financially for the costs of post secondary education. Studies have shown that children and families with even small savings set aside for college are three times more likely to enroll in college, and four times more likely to graduate. Please find a toolkit that contains resources and informational materials in English and Spanish by visiting the Partners tab at CalKIDS.org or call (916)651-6380.

Thank you for your active involvement in your child’s education.  On behalf of our Board of Education and staff members, thank you for your ongoing support of AESD.

Sincerely,

Dr. Christopher Downing
