Important Dates

May 15th- 8th Grade Graduation at 6pm in church

                8th grade dismisses at 11:55

May 16th- Sports Awards at 6pm

May 17th- Last Day for 3 and 4 year old Preschool

                Awards Day in church (4th-8th grades at 9:30am and 1st-3rd grades at 1:00pm)

May 18th- Kindergarten Graduation at 6pm in church

                Kindergarten dismisses at 11:55

May 19th- Last Day of School

                Report Card pick up for Grades 1-7. Teachers will be available from 7:30-10:00am, so feel free to stop by at any time.

Registration 2023-2024

In the family envelops are registration paper for the 2023-2024 school year. We are trying something different this year and letting you get a head start on the paperwork. If you could please return the completed forms by May 31st. If you have any questions just let us know.

Pre-registration has been sent out for all grades for the 2023-2024 school year. If you have a child that needs register or know of someone who would be interested, please give the school a call.

Fundraisers:

SJB Golf Tournament

SJB Annual 4-Person Golf Tournament will be held at the North County Country Club on June 1st. Get a team together for a day of fun or if you don’t want to play you can always be a Hole Sponsor. All proceeds will benefit SJB.

TJ’s Pizza

Pizza orders will be delivered on Monday, May 15th and it will be ready for pick up at dismissal. If you need to make different arrangements, please contact Janet Papenberg at 618-531-3773.

Flabby Daddy Dips 

Dip orders are coming home today. We made $770.

This week in sports:

Saturday- Good luck to Julia and Peyton at STATE track!

Julia (Long jump & 200M) & Peyton (High jump & hurdles) will compete at the state meet in DuQuoin on Saturday.

Tuesday- End of year sports and track awards 6 p.m. in church

Awards night on Tuesday includes track, 8th grade recognition, scholar athlete, dedication awards, and sportsmanship awards. It starts at 6 p.m. in church.

SJB has been compiling girls and boys track and field information to determine school records in various events. We need to finalize our research and establish these records so our athletes can attempt to break them in the future track years. If you feel you may have been a record setter, please contact Kris Hill by Monday, May 15th at sjbhill@hotmail.com. You must have documentation (ribbons, articles, etc) to be considered for this honor.

Regional Meet

The girls’ team finished in third place out of 13 teams. Peyton and Julia qualified for state with their first and second place finishes.

First Place: Julia Ohlau- 200 Meters; Peyton Kreher- Hurdles and High Jump.

Second Place: Julia Ohlau- Long Jump

Third Place: Peyton Kreher- 200 Meters; Julia Ohlau- 100 Meters

Fourth Place: Peyton Kreher- Long Jump; Julia Ohlau- High Jump

Fifth Place: 7th Grade 4X200 Relay (Evan Brewer, Liam Ohlau, Owen Cowell, Lance Nottmeier)

Diocesan Meet

The boys’ team finished in third place out of 9 teams in the small school division.

First Place- Diocesan Medal: Peyton Kreher- High Jump

Second Place: Julia Ohlau-Long Jump and 200 meters; Liam Ohlau- Discus and 1600 meters; Grayson Walker- Shot Put; Lance Nottmeier- 7th Grade 100 Meters

Third Place: Molly Steibel- Shot Put and Discus; Peyton Kreher- 400 Meters; Julia Ohlau- 100 meters; Liam Ohlau- 800 meters; Lance Nottmeier- Long Jump and High Jump; Owen Cowell- 200 meters

Fourth Place: 4X100 relay (Brennan Walker, Owen Brewer, Owen Cowell, Lance Nottmeier)

Fifth Place: 4X200 relay (Grayson Walker, Dallas Kawalec, Brennan Walker, Owen Cowell)
