NVIAC Divisions Rules

NVIAC Divisions Rules

Rev 20240703

NVIAC is a growing league with over a dozen schools/teams. Season play and Tournament play can be overly complicated as the number of teams participating in a division reach larger numbers. This document defines the NVIAC rules for team limitations and requirements for separating teams into two divisions as needed.

Section I. Team limitations

When the number of teams participating in a division reaches ten or more, the teams will be divided into two divisions, as specified below.

Section II. Division team assignments

Teams have been assigned to take advantage of geographically nearby teams, to minimize the travel distances during the season.

The current divisions are specified here: (https://tinyurl.com/NVIAC-Split)

When the teams are split into two divisions, the requirements are as follows:

  1. All teams in a division must schedule the other teams in the division at least twice (Home and Away games).
  2. All teams in a division must make every reasonable effort to schedule the teams in the other division at least once.
  3. All teams must schedule at least 75% of the teams participating in the league in a given season.

Section IV. Tournament play

All teams will be seeded in their respective divisions.

Tournament Brackets will be decided at Tournament time.
