From the Principal’s desk…

We are wrapping up March with a “Good Luck” send off to our NRMS Show Chorus groups who are competing at the state festival Saturday in Millinocket!  They have been working hard since last fall, and no matter how tomorrow goes, we are proud of their commitment and hard work!

“We are what we repeatedly do.  Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.” Aristotle

📣📣Attention families of 8th graders! 📣📣 The yearbook committee is looking for BABY pictures of your 8th grader for the yearbook. Parent Corner-Motivation

Our journal writing this month is focused on motivation. Each Wednesday students will be watching a video of someone who has overcome adversity and learned how to use it to motivate themselves to succeed/overcome/persevere/conquer/rise above.  After watching the video, students are asked to write about what they learned from the video and how it may inspire them.  Please ask your child about these videos and what impact they could have on them, their home, the school community, and even the community at large.  We are hopeful that we will see a ripple effect from this Motivational March focus!

METS

Maine Educational Talent Search (METS) is now accepting student applications. METS is a college access and career exploration program for students in grades 5-12. This FREE program is an exciting opportunity for students to explore careers, develop effective study habits, attend leadership activities, and go on no-cost college tours/field trips. METS also helps students find scholarships and grants (free money) for college. All activities (except field trips) take place at school during RTI, study hall, or some other free period. Students are eligible to apply beginning in 5th grade, and once accepted, the student may remain in the program until high school graduation. If you have any questions, please email the advisor for this program at  Linda.Basilicato@maine.edu. To apply to the program now go to https://mets.maine.edu/application/
