National Nonprofit Petco Love Invests in Citizens for Animal Protection
To Save and Improve the Lives of Pets in Houston, TX
A $15,000 grant celebrated at local Petco on Mason Rd in Katy, TX on June 23rd
Houston, TX (June 2022) – Citizens for Animal Protection (CAP) received a $15,000 grant investment from national nonprofit Petco Love during a special celebration at the Katy Petco, 513 S Mason Rd, Katy, TX 77450 on June 23rd in support of their lifesaving work for animals in Houston and Katy.
Petco Love is a national nonprofit leading change for pets by harnessing the power of love to make communities and pet families closer, stronger, and healthier. Since its founding in 1999, Petco Love has invested $330 million in adoption and other lifesaving efforts. And Petco Love helps find loving homes for pets in partnership with Petco and more than 4,000 organizations — like ours — across North America, with 6.5 million pets adopted and counting.
“Our investment in Animal Welfare Org is part of more than $15M in investments recently announced by Petco Love to power local organizations across the country as part of our commitment to create a future in which no pet is unnecessarily euthanized,” said Susanne Kogut, president of Petco Love. “Our local investments are only part of our strategy to empower animal lovers to drive lifesaving change right alongside us. We recently celebrated the one-year launch anniversary of Petco Love Lost, a national lost and found database that uses pet facial recognition technology to simplify the search for lost pets.”
“The generous grant of $15,000 awarded to CAP will be used to repair and replace worn, broken framing of dog runs through the shelter. This will have an immediate and positive effect on the safety and well-being of dogs in our care. Petco Love’s support is integral in providing not only adoption support, but support of the facility, allowing us to safely care for the animals in our community.” said Sandi Mercado, Executive Director.
Citizens for Animal Protection is a nonprofit organization that serves 10,000 animals annually in the greater Houston area. Since 1972, Citizens for Animal Protection has found homes for thousands of animals each year, provided TNR support through their Feral Cat Assistance Program (FCAP) and promoted humane education to children and families through exciting and innovative programs.
