Dear student,
Following the nomination of your university, we send you some information about the application process for exchange students wishing to study at UCAM.
This registration consists of two steps:
1) Pre-registration in the UCAM: please avoid institutional email accounts from your Home university and best if you use a gmail acc. https://laurea.ucam.edu/regis/controlreg/[mtoAlta]RegistroPublico?entradaPublica=true&idioma=en.GB&chl=S (instructions on how to complete the record in English in Registro incoming (English).
Important: in the Identity number section, you can't use punctuation (G-123¡), nor any space (G 12345), just numbers and letters.
2) Incoming form: with access data generated in pre-registration.
https://laurea.ucam.edu/cosmos/Controlador/?apl=Uninavs&gu=REGI&idNav=inicio&NuevaSesionUsuario=true&NombreUsuarioAlumno=ALUMOVIN&idioma=en&pais=GB, Instructions on how to complete it in INSTRUCCIONES PARA CUMPLIMENTAR UNA SOLICITUD INCOMING inglés.
You have to select:
-Erasmus +: if you are coming from a partner European university.
-UCAM Ibero: if you are coming from a partner from South America.
-UCAM USA/Overseas: if you are coming from a partner from the United States, Canada or Asian countries.
-Erasmus KA107: if you are coming from a non European partner university, but participate in this program.
The documents to upload are:
-Photograph, in this case jpg, with a size not bigger than 4MB*, like the one you use for a passport. The photo must have a light back and must show only your face…
-Copy of your identity document or passport*, this one is compulsory for students with a need of visa.
-Academic records*: academic records/grades from your home university.
-Certificate of the Spanish language: we recommend a minimum A2 level, although any certificate is required. However, students wishing to make any clinical practice in the area of Health Sciences (Nursing, Physio, Medicine…) will be asked to have a B1 of Spanish before the start of the practice.
-English language certificate: students wishing to attend courses from our degrees taught in English language are asked to upload a B2 English language certificate. If your level is a B1, you can still upload it, but tutors will decide if you would be accepted. If English is one of the official languages in your Home country, there is no need for any certificate.
-Criminal certificate: for students from Health Sciences and Education that will indicate in the learning agreement our course of Traineeship or a course that involves trainees with people under 18 years. Certificate from the Police or other official dpt. showing you don’t have sexual crimes.
-Health insurance: European health card or private insurance, this last is compulsory for students with a need of visa. If you haven’t got it yet, you will have to bring a copy on arrival. The insurance must be valid the full length of your stay. Expired ones won’t be accepted.
-Learning agreement Erasmus, North America & Overseas, Ibero*: upload a proposal of courses, so we can have an idea of what courses are you interested in, or in case your home university requires this document afterwards. However, although at this moment we do not need it signed by your home university yet, the selected courses must be agreed previously with your home coordinator. After the Application deadline, once your registration will be validated, you will receive further instructions about how to complete your learning agreement online in our site UCAM learning agreement. Only then, we will be able to sign your learning agreement, not before. Ucam does not work in OLA yet and is not able to sign any learning in this web.
*compulsory documents
If your university or your study area is not in the dropdown box, please contact us. At the end, save your Application form as evidence. Be careful with this step: you must read the message “Your application has been submitted successfully” and you should be able to print it or save it.
No originals are required, except for the learning agreement: on arrival, you can bring it originally signed by your home university.
Only good scanned documents will be accepted. In case of photos of the documents, avoid showing unnecessary background.
Deadline 1st semester: 15th May
Deadline 2nd semester: 10th November
LEARNING AGREEMENT
Any doubt about courses, availability, syllabus…must be asked to your Ucam Exchange coordinator, not to this office! Your Home University tutor is the one who should help you selecting UCAM courses and should tell you which UCAM courses will be recognized. UCAM tutors will guide you with available courses at UCAM.
In order to fill in the Learning Agreement, students can find all-important information about courses and ECTS in our link (1) https://www.ucam.edu/estudios?f=Grado
-You can only select courses taught in the semester of your mobility. As an orientation:
-1st semester: september to january
-2nd semester: end of january to june
-I strongly recommend you to contact our UCAM Exchange coordinators, If you wish to work on your final project, you have to discuss it with your degree/area related coordinator, in order to look for a thesis Director here or suitable "project" courses. However the Final project can’t be assessed here, therefore the course won’t appear in the Learning agreement and in the Transcript of records.
Course Taking Restrictions: Students can choose from different degrees as long as they choose a minimum of 60% of their total ECTS from a same degree at UCAM*. The remaining ects should be from other suitable degrees related with your Home university studies. Example: if the student is doing Nutrition in its home university, here in UCAM he/she could select 3 courses from Nutrition and the other 2 courses from other related degree(s). Choosing from too many departments and the same semester may cause a time clash, a lack of a main UCAM exchange tutor and you might need to change your courses. There will be an add/drop week on arrival so that you can reschedule your academic planning.
*Exception: only students from Medicine will be able to select courses from Medicine.
-Only BBA, Psychology, Sport Sciences have classes in English: https://international.ucam.edu/ (CLICK ON STUDIES). Veterinary and International Business and Culture Program are not available for Exchange students, don’t choose any course from these programs!! Also the degree on Modern languages does not exist anymore, instead you can have an eye at our degree in Translation.
-Education degree and Translation and Interpretation degree, although taught in Spanish language, have also interesting courses for English spoken students.
-In the learning agreement, in the column UCAM degree you must indicate the name of the UCAM degree where the course belongs. Here some short names to know:
ADE Business administration in Spanish/ BBA Business administration in English
CAFD Sport sciences in Spanish / SC Sport sciences in English
TI: Translation and Interpreting
PSI: Psychology in Spanish // PSY: in English
-In the learning agreement, in the column UCAM course code, you must indicate the code of the course. To see the code of a course, you need to enter https://www.ucam.edu/estudios?f=Grado , select the degree you wish, enter in the Plan de estudios/Curriculum, click on the course you want, and then you will have a description of the course, its syllabus and its code.
-In the column Component title at the Receiving inst you have to write the name of the course as it appears in its description, and as far as possible, write it in Spanish.
-If you are going to attend any of our fees paying Spanish languages courses, it must be included in the learning agreement (no need of any code). If any doubt, contact escueladeidiomas@ucam.edu
Two weeks intensive course: 2 ECTS.
Semester course: 5 ECTS
(1) In order to find your degree, in the left menu you have to choose:
-Estudios: Grado
-Modalidad: Presencial (except for Criminology and Food technology that would be semipresencial)
-Sedes: Murcia (except if you are accepted but for Cartagena campus).
Our university directive has decided to exclude the second cycle studies (master) of the Exchange offer, a decision that this office has no choice but to comply with, although our bilateral agreements could include this level. That means incoming students can’t select any module from any of our masters.
The degrees on Translation and Interpretation, Business Administration (either in English or Spanish), Marketing, Human Resources, Education and Sport Sciences have limited places for incoming students (around 5 places for exchange students only in each subject!). If once we receive the study plans with the chosen subjects we detect that the maximum number of Exchange students allowed in a subject is exceeded, the Exchange tutor will then distribute the places according to different factors: academic results, the relationship between home university studies and ucam selected courses, the English level...
The Communication faculty (Journalism, Advertising and Audiovisual communication) has courses forbidden for exchange students. Please check the doc “ASIGNATURAS disponibles Comunicación” to see the available courses.
-IN THE DEGREE OF MEDICINE, WE CAN ONLY ACCEPT STUDENTS DOING MEDICINE AT HOME UNIVERSITY, AND ONLY 4 STUDENTS PER SUBJECT: AMONG ALL THE LEARNINGS RECEIVED THE TUTOR WILL BE CONFIRMING COURSES THE WAY HE WILL RECEIVE THE LEARNINGS. LAST YEAR HOSPITAL ROTATIONS IN THE DEGREE OF MEDICINE ARE FORBIDDEN FOR EXCHANGE STUDENTS
PRACTICAL STAYS included in the learning agreement as a course:
Students from Nursery, Physiotherapy, Medicine or other "medical" courses: it is compulsory to send an email to your UCAM Exchange coordinator before your arrival in order to confirm a place in hospitals, laboratories.... In case of Nursing students, whatever is your exchange period, you should have informed your coordinator before 30/06/2024. If you don’t do it, we can’t accept you for a practice exchange.
Nursing and Physiotherapy students may be placed in our campus of Cartagena when we run out of practice places in Murcia.
Exchange students coming from non-European countries may need to have a visa to start their studies in Europe.
Once you have been granted admission to UCAM, you should immediately contact the relevant Embassy in your country to know the requirements for obtaining a Student Visa. It may take several weeks or even months to obtain your visa. It is the responsibility of each student to adequately inform themselves about the immigration processes of the destination country. Understanding visa requirements, documentation, and any legal obligations is crucial to ensure a smooth transition and compliance with immigration laws. By proactively seeking out this information, students can avoid potential issues and ensure a successful experience abroad.
Some documents the Embassy would request you:
Pay attention as some of them should have the Hague Apostille.
Likewise, the student detaches UCAM from any consequences that he/she could face as a result of traveling to Spain without previously complying with immigration requirements.
USEFUL INFORMATION
Academic calendar: 2024-2025. If you plan to attend the intensive Spanish language course, pay attention to its start. We recommend students to be there a few days before the start of classes. Later you will be informed about our appointment link to come to the office on arrival in case you need it. Important: students from Psychology, Nursing and Medicine you must contact UCAM tutors to verify your start date.
If your Home university calendar doesn’t match ours, you will have to tell your Home university to adapt its calendar (courses, exams, practice…) to our start date, so you can reach UCAM on time. For example if you have an exam in your Home university on 09/10 but our semester starts on 11/09, then you must tell your Home university to advance your exam much before so you can be in UCAM around 11/09. You have been informed about our calendar with time enough to sort out these academic problems.
Accommodation: our university residences, https://www.ucam.edu/servicios/alojamientos/residencial, are usually highly demanded and only accept Full academic students. We recommend students to look for private accommodation too. Our Housing service could help students in searching for accommodation (paying service).
Some advice: La Ñora, Guadalupe and Espinardo are the nearest towns, although in Espinardo you must avoid the district Barrio del Espíritu Santo. In Murcia center, also avoid Polígono de la Paz and Calle Santa Rita.
Spanish language courses: As the language of instruction at our institution is mainly Spanish, we strongly recommend Exchange Students to attend our fees paying "Curso de Español y Cultura Hispánica". If you need more information and/or want to register, please contact our Language School escueladeidiomas@ucam.edu compulsorily.
Useful information: Students can find all-important information like e.g. sport and leisure activities, library, etc. in our website: https://international.ucam.edu/student-portal.
