Dear Parents,
Throughout the Grades in ISK we will use Zoom as the platform to teach synchronously, touch base and build relationships with you and your children. We have increased the amount of Zoom lessons for each student after feedback from last year’s experience and we hope this will increase the engagement and motivation for children to learn online with us.
For some parents Zoom might be new and others might need a refresher. Click the link to introduce you to Zoom.
There are a few rules and tips we would like to share with you when using Zoom with students. |
- Students should not create their own accounts (this must be done by an adult)
- All Zoom sessions will be recorded for child protection purposes
- Headphones will help to reduce background noises
- Please help your child to adjust the chair and screen so we can see their faces
- Make sure your child is ready to follow a Zoom lesson and sits at a table with resources he/she might need. (paper, pencils, markers, etc )
- Please don’t allow your child to eat or drink during Zoom lessons.
- Remove distractions (toys, siblings and pets)
- Talk with your child about the keyboard use and that chat and changing screen are not allowed to be used during Zoom lessons.
- Teach your child how to mute and unmute and how to turn the volume up and down.
- As a parent we would like you to be around in the room for safety guidelines (this is necessary for any 1:1 Zoom calls).
- We would like to ask you not to help answer questions that the teacher is asking unless your child or me is asking you for help. This to encourage your child’s independence to solve and answer problems and questions by him/herself.

We encourage you to use Zoom yourself with other parents and children to connect and build relationships.
We are looking forward to getting to know you and your child in the best we can, under these circumstances,
The Grade 3 Team
