JEFFERSON STREET OASIS COMMUNITY GARDEN

PART-TIME ASSISTANT GARDEN MANAGER

In association with Springfield Promise Neighborhood, a local 501c3 organization, Jefferson Street Oasis Community Garden (JSO) is looking for a part-time Assistant Garden Manger for the 2025 growing season.  Applications accepted December 3, 2024 through January 17, 2025.  

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Helping local gardeners who have garden plots at JSO be successful in planting, growing, and harvesting produce across the growing season;
• Assist in the cultivation, procurement and distribution of plants and seeds to gardeners;
• Assisting, preparing and maintaining the grounds of JSO;
• Providing support for Jefferson Street Oasis Community Garden events and activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Knowledge of community gardening, planting and harvesting;
• Ability to attend necessary meetings, work sessions, and educational/nutritional/health events with community members, section leaders, the JSO Board, gardeners, other stakeholders;
• Ability to work with tools and equipment needed to maintain the safety and operations of the JSO site;
• Respect for economic and cultural diversity; experience working with people from diverse backgrounds;
• Available to work flexible hours including weekends and certain evenings as needed;
• Must have reliable transportation to the jobsite.

Springfield Promise Neighborhood will be the employer for the position with work and supervision done at the Jefferson Street Garden, 1100 W. Jefferson Street, Springfield, OH 45506.  The position will be for one year, part-time with potential for re-employment.  Begins March 3, 2025 and extends to October 31, 2025.

Twenty hours per week; Salary $18 to $25 per hour commensurate with experience. The person must pass a background check (FBI/BCI and National Sex Offender Registry) to begin employment.
