2019 Executive Committee
I wish everyone a Happy New Year ! I hope everyone had good holidays and were able to spend time with family and friends.
As we start the new year with a new committee, we humbly seek your support in enriching our growing Jain community. We will reach out where we need help and please feel free to tap on committee’s shoulder for any suggestions, guidance or feedback.
I would like to start our First Newsletter with following words from Winston S. Churchill that describe a big part of being true to Jainism:
“We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.”
Looking forward to a great 2019, Let us make it a positively eventful year!
Inside This Issue
Jai Jinendra and a Happy new year to you all!
It is a great honor to begin my term as President of JSCNC for 2019. I am proud of JSCNC’s continuous progress over years. I would like to acknowledge all the hard work, dedication of the past president, committee, volunteers, and sponsors for doing so much for our community.
Our new committee is dedicated to serve JSCNC with focus on improving interest and involvement of all our members. We request all of you to help and guide us so that we can take JSCNC to new heights of community growth and leadership.
These are also changing times that ask for new ways of thinking and new approaches to express our beliefs. To learn from our religion is not only to memorize facts and mantras but to apply the principles explaining the true meaning of being a Jain and the purpose of our existence. In this regard, If anyone has any expertise in a particular field or specific skills which can help JSCNC’s growth, we would love to get you involved.
I want to close my message with quote of Mr. Gerald Ford who once said “Coming together is a beginning, Staying together is a progress and working together is a success “. I request you to please continue with your generous contribution and support community by volunteering your time.
I am confident that with your continued support, success of our community will be unstoppable.
The community holds its monthly meetings at the Hindu Temple in Morrisville, NC. We invite everyone to attend the monthly meetings.
For planning purposes, Please inform our Food Coordinator, Mr. Rajan Chheda, if:
a) You are not a regular attendee of the monthly meetings, but *are* planning to attend … OR …

Pathshala Fees for Calendar Year 2019
One of the founding principles of Jain Study Center of NC is to serve our young kids to instill spiritual development, self-awareness and promote Jain identity in individuals. It is with this goal that we have established a twice-a-month Pathshala. The volunteer teachers pay special attention to the needs of young and older groups and have structured curriculum as such.
Pathshala registration for 2019 has been completed.
JSCNC rents an after-school facility off Morrisville Pkwy., which charges a nominal rental fee for holding these Pathshalas. Based on this and a few other factors, the committee has calculated the Pathshala fees for 2019 to be $75 in total per child.
Please make the check payable to “JSCNC” and write your child(ren)’s name in the memo. For example, "Child1, Child2".
Every family whose children attend the Pathshala must do one of the following. Deadline to complete either option is Sunday Feb 4th, 2019.

NEW! Social Media Outreach
We are working on creating a social media outreach strategy for our center. The goal is to engage younger members of the community and promote our events online. The plan is to have the initial social media presence up and running in the next 60 days.
We are inviting college students who would like to partner with us for the next 60 days to set this up and also use this as a communication/ non-profit project for their resume. Please contact Ketan Kuruwa (Ketan.firstname.lastname@example.org or 210-602-1397) if you would like to help drive JSCNC’s growth!
JSCNC appreciates your contribution/donation in support of the center's activities for the year 2018. The tax receipt, for donations made to JSCNC over $250 (per IRS guidelines), will be distributed by Jaynita Shah in the January 2019 meeting.
Please visit http://www.jscnc.org and click Events. The calendar has the most up-to-date listing of all confirmed activities for the year. All the tithis (Lunar Days) are also posted on the online calendar. Here is a list of some key dates:
Food served during monthly meetings and special events has played a vital role in building our community over the years. It has enabled us to spend quality time to learn Jainism and socialize with other fellow Jains without having to worry about our usual lunch/dinner planning that day. This wouldn't have been possible without the hard work and monetary donations from several individuals. We are extremely grateful for their efforts and thank them for their continued contributions. Visit the following link to find more details on these individuals.
Note that as our community has grown over the years, sustaining the food table program has become challenging. We encourage you to help us here by volunteering to serve as a host, volunteering to prepare food or providing monetary donation so that some food items can be catered.
Please contact our food coordinator, Mr. Rajan Chheda @ (978) 408-7284 for any questions / details.
