LAST DAY of SCHOOL!
✴ Brought to You by the PTA
New Playground Update
We are excited to announce that we presented our playground proposal to the BOE on Monday evening and they unanimously accepted! We are also pleased that the organization Kids around the World will take our playground equipment in late July and will donate it to another school somewhere in world! (We will keep you updated as details of a location unfold.) The order for the new playground equipment has been placed with Kompan and we expect installation to take place in mid-August. Thank YOU, the entire SES Community, for making this possible and a shout-out to our Superintendent, Dr. Colleen Palmer who has heavily endorsed this project from the beginning. Please contact Jodi and Amie by replying to this Scoop with any questions.
The SES Walk-a-Thon Update
The 13th Annual Walk-at-thon is almost complete! The walking at school is done, but your child can continue to log some at-home miles by Friday for the last push to get Saugie around the country for his college road trip. By now, you should have seen the mileage punch card that was sent home with your child to help tally all the miles he/she walked at school and home. The deadline for donations and completed pledge forms is Friday, May 25th! You can make a direct donation to Staples Tuition Grants by CLICK HERE NOW. Select “Donate,” and then choose The Saugatuck Elementary School Community Award from the donation details drop-down menu. You can make a difference in a deserving former Saugatuck student's college dreams by contributing to the Saugatuck Elementary School Community Award through the Staples Tuition Grants.

A Very Special Event at Barnes And Noble
FACT: Kids LOVE to see their teachers “out in the real world.” Well, on Monday, June 4th ALL SES students will have that chance because the entire Saugatuck teaching staff will be present at Barnes and Noble from 3:30-4:30! They will recommend books for summer reading and run different, creative stations for students! At 4:20pm, we will have a staff read-aloud of the book The Great Fuzz Frenzy. Please don't miss this unprecedented event as we celebrate our community and kick-off our summer reading. See you there!
PTA Reimbursements & CCRFs
A CCRF is a "committee report" and the PTA cannot function without each outgoing PTA member adding her/his updates to this invaluable doc. Did you sit on a committee this year? Please update your CCRF at once! Contact Denise Nahmias (email@example.com) with questions. And if you were a member of a PTA committee, spent money on an SES event this year and wish to be reimbursed, we need your original receipt(s) and this reimbursement form NO LATER THAN JUNE 1st. Leave your form and receipts in the PTA mailbox, marked: “Attention: Libby Liu.”
Celebrate with a Celebration Seat!
A Celebration Seat is an engraved brass plate that is attached to an armrest of an SES Auditorium seat (see picture below). Plates can be engraved with a name, date or special message and make a great gift for a graduate or favorite teacher. Cost is $25, proceeds benefit the SES PTA Grant Program. (Once installed, you will receive an email confirming the location of your plate.) The deadline to order is Friday, June 1st so CLICK HERE to order now! Questions? Contact Caroline Evans (firstname.lastname@example.org).

A Scoop of Thanks to...
… Museum Night coordinators Jessica Hill, Sooo-z Mastropietro, Cindi Shimabukuro and Sharon Yuan for organizing the beautiful displays of ArtSmart projects as well as organizing a really fun night for families to enjoy. A big shout out to ALL of our ArtSmart volunteers for your hard work all year long! And finally, thank you to Erica Messina and the Chamber orchestra for performing for our Museum Night attendees!
… Thank you to Fourth Grade Girl Scout Troop #50394, the Greens Farms Garden Club and members of the "Secret Gardeners" (SES teachers and PTA Gardens; Dr Kathie Moskovitz, Mrs. Lawrence, Allison Doubles and Dina Schmidt) who converged on the SES courtyard to do a much needed spring clean-up! The girls earned the Junior Gardener badge by donating and planting monarch-attracting flowers, and learned from Dr. Moskovitz how important the Monarch butterfly is and why we need to build habitats in our community to save them. We look forward to seeing the flowers as they flourish and create a monarch haven in the courtyard!
… our fourth and fifth grade Caring Council members for leading the very informative Mini-K tours this week!
