To All Middletown Parents/Guardians-

Although we are still unsure of the exact scenario for opening. (We anticipate the governor announcement the week of Aug 31) We are actively planning to support in-person and distance learning this school year.  

We have two important announcements for STUDENTS and PARENTS.

We are moving our Student ZOOM information sessions until we have more information.  Here are the new details.

We are also attempting to streamline our digital platforms for FAMILIES.

We will be offering Parent Trainings in some key areas so that you can learn more about what we are using.

The initial schedule is below, followed by a brief description of each platform.

Google Classroom- Google Classroom enables our teachers to create an online classroom area in which they can manage all the documents that their students need. The google classroom provides a teacher/student-friendly way of posting assignments, communicating with students and providing feedback.  

ZOOM- will be our primary video chatting tool.  We will use it to hold online classes and small group instruction. It allows students to raise their hands when they have a question, brainstorm on a virtual whiteboard, and collaborate on work with classmates. It also provides the ability to record lessons for those that cannot attend.

SEE SAW- We will use this platform to communicate with parents in grades K-3.

Seesaw is a simple way for teachers and students to record and share what's happening in the classroom (in a safe and secure manner.) Seesaw gives students a place to document their learning, be creative and learn how to use technology.  Each student gets their own journal and will add things to it, like photos, videos, drawings, or notes.  See Saw also has an APP version.

Bloomz- will be available in grades 4-12 to communicate with families. It is a mobile web app that has all the features educators need to connect, communicate and coordinate with parents, from messaging and quick updates with photo and video sharing, calendar coordination, volunteers and conferences signups, to behavior management and student portfolios, all in one easy to use app.  (This would replace things like CLASSDOJO, REMIND, Etc)

CLEVER- With Clever, everyone has a personalized portal with a single login for all of their online programs and resources. Students easily log in and immerse themselves in learning saving precious instruction time.
