I grew up in Augusta, Maine graduating from Cony H. S. in 1981. I attended the University of Maine at Orono and graduated with a B.S. in Music Education in 1985. From 1985 - 1996, I was band director at Lake Region Middle and High Schools. I also taught guitar and music theory courses a the high school level. I started working at Jordan Small School as part-time band director in the fall of 1996 teaching students in grades 4,5 & 6. I also had a property management and care-taking business during this time.
When Jordan Small School became Jordan Small Middle School, I moved into a full-time position teaching classroom music, chorus and band to grades 5-8. I was also the Academic Enrichment team leader from 2003 - 2006. In my spare time, I managed a 15 acre apple orchard with "pick your own" on fall weekends during this time period.
I became interim principal at JSMS in 2007 and moved to full status as principal in 2008. I received my Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from USM at this time also. The principal role at RES was added to my job description in 2010.
I have two adult children from my first marriage. Ben graduated from UVM with a degree in horticulture and is now the Sustainable Agriculture instructor at Kennebec Valley Community College. Kaitlin graduated from UMO in 2013 and is an athletic/personal trainer at UMO. I live in Poland with my wife Kelly and her two daughters, Alissa who is taking classes at the MCHP in Lewiston and Sydney, who is attending The University of New Haven with a major in criminal investigations . In my free time, I enjoy gardening, playing trombone in various jazz bands, hiking, snowshoeing, skiing and relaxing on the pontoon boat!
I deeply enjoy my work with the students, staff and families of our school community!
