March 2019

President's Message

What a month we had in February! All of the fun things that were cancelled due to the snow have been rescheduled for March and that means that there are lots of opportunities to help out either at the school or from home. (Remember that book fair volunteers receive a 20% discount on their purchases!)
As we begin to transition from winter into spring we start looking ahead to plans for next year. Elections for PTSA positions will be held in May. Even if you aren’t ready to jump in as president, I encourage you to find a way to be involved in PTSA. The work is challenging and rewarding; and the friendships are real and lasting.

Talent Show Recap

A big thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s talent show such a success. From the student performers, to the emcees, and the stage crew; thank you for your efforts.

Thank you also to the parent volunteers: Christie Rosengren, Arlene Magadamit, and Mindy Hales. Two of these ladies will not be at Emerald Park next year and so we are desperately looking for volunteers passionate about allowing children to perform. Please contact us if you are able to take on this event next year.

One last thank you to Carrie at Quick Signs and Designs for helping us make those amazing gigantic teacher heads that we used for the surprize ending. You can re-watch the teachers breaking it down on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94WvJTtKYjE

Staff Dinners

Monday and Tuesday of conference week (March 18th and 19th) we like to show our appreciation for staff who stay late talking with families by providing dinner. Dishes are still needed! Would you be able to bring some food? This is a great chance to help the school if you don't have time to volunteer otherwise!

Upcoming Events

Digital Families event, sponsored by a grant from Facebook

This event is a combined effort between Emerald Park PTSA and Soos Creek PTA and well be held at EP on Friday, May 17th at 6:00pm.

The end of the year event will be held on Friday, June 14th, time to be determined. Plans are still being made. If you have ideas/suggestions, please email us!

If you’ve been wanting to get more involved in the PTSA now is a great time to get started by job shadowing at our upcoming events. We have lost (and are going to lose) some key members of the PTSA board next year. In order to keep up the exciting events we have planned, we need more help. Come talk to any PTSA member at our next activity for ideas on how to get started.
