Wednesday October 18, 2024 Board Meeting Preston Town-County Library
CALL TO ORDER & ROLL CALL
The October 18, 2024 meeting of the Preston Hot Springs Town-County Library Board was called to order at 5:02pm. Board members Peg Winebrenner, Rube Wrightsman, Matt Pavelich and M’lin Kendrick (by Zoom) were present. Library Director, Starla Rice, acting as secretary was also in attendance.
MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING
Minutes from the September 18, 2024 board meeting were read by the Board members.
Discussion: None. Peg entertained a motion that the minutes from the September 18, 2024 meeting be approved. Matt moved that the minutes from the September 18, 2024 board meeting be approved. M’lin seconded that motion. All trustees present approved.
BUDGET & CLAIMS
The board was presented with the budget reports for September 2024 and the claims. Discussion: The director presented cash reports for July and August. The cash reports presented at the September 18, 2024 meeting for July and August were incorrect. The town made corrections which caused a change of numbers on the reports. Peg entertained a motion to approve the September 2024 budget reports and claims. Matt moved that the budget reports and claims for September 2024 be approved. Rube seconded that motion. All trustees present approved.

One of the coordinators stopped to let us know that they will be here the first weekend in October 2025 and to thank us for welcoming them.
2 bags of lettuce, 1 ½ bags of tomatoes and 1bag of onions were donated to the Tribal Nutrition Center. 1 full bag of cheese was divided up among volunteers.
2. Annual Report Fiscal Year 2023-2024: Peg entertained a motion that the Annual Report Fiscal Year 2023-2024 be approved and sent to the Town of Hot Springs and the Sanders County Commissioners. Matt moved that the Annual Report Fiscal Year 2023-2024 be approved and sent to the Town of Hot Springs and the Sanders County Commissioners. Rube seconded that motion. All trustees present approved.
3. Hiring of part-time/fill-in employee: There were 2 applicants for the advertised job. Peg entertained a motion that Catherine Finlay be hired as the “part-time/fill-in employee. No guaranteed hours.” Matt moved that Catherine Finlay be hired. M’lin seconded that motion. All trustees present approved. The job was advertised in the Sanders County Ledger Start Date September 21, 2024, Expiration Date October 5, 2024. We kept it open until October 16, 2024 in keeping with the print edition of the paper.
New Business:
1. Recap of Planning Training on October 2, 2024 in Missoula. Moved to November meeting.
2. General Administrative Business: The Montana Community Foundation contacted us as a possible recipient of a donation. Opening the library the first 2 Mondays of the month: The request was withdrawn. Town Council Meeting Attendance November 5, 2024. Starla will attend.
The November meeting of The Preston Hot Springs Town/County Library will be November 20, 2024.
