Morning Announcements for Thursday November 8th,  2018

Good Morning Calabasas! Happy Thursday!

Please rise for the Pledge of Allegiance. Put your right hand over your heart. Ready. Begin.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Seniors, bring your baby pictures to PA-2 by December 2nd. Also, bring your “dynamic duo” and “glow-up” pictures for the yearbook to PA-2.

Native American Heritage

November is Native American Heritage Month! This month is a time to celebrate rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and histories to acknowledge the important contributions of Native people. Throughout the month, we’ll be announcing important leaders and figures who are Native Americans. Today’s notable figure is Pocahontas. Pocahontas was the daughter of the chief of the Powhatan tribe which was near the english settlement of Jamestown, Virginia. She ended up saving the life of Jamestown leader captain John Smith when he visited her village. She also helped to warn the settlers of an attack from her father and his warriors.

The month of November is all about giving back. We are having a Canned Food Drive to donate to SOVA, a local food pantry for the homeless. Please bring as many cans as possible to your homeroom class. The homeroom with the most cans per student will win a pizza party. The canned food drive is over next Wednesday so make sure to bring them in this next week. Thank you.

The reusable water bottle homeroom competition is well under way. Currently, Mr. Lee, Mrs. Zeng, and Ms. Nonhoff-Zieg’s homerooms are in the lead. Make sure to keep bringing your water bottles to have a chance at winning the pizza party.
