Hilltop Elementary Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

2024-2025

School Hours      First bell 7:15 AM        Tardy Bell 7:30 AM          Release Bell 2:55 PM

It is preferred that you drop off by 7:20, class will start promptly at 7:30 every morning. Carlines will only be manned until 7:25 AM.

MORNING ARRIVAL

• The school doors will open at 7:00 AM. Students are not allowed to be at school before 7:00 AM unsupervised.
• Students wait in an assigned area for their grade level once they arrive at school.  
• Breakfast will be served from 7:00 AM - 7:25 AM.

Tardies:  Students are expected to be in their seats and ready to learn at 7:30. Any students arriving after 7:30 will report to the front office to receive their tardy admittance slip.

MORNING DROP OFF OPTIONS

Car riders will be dropped off at the cafeteria/gym entrance beginning at 7:00 AM.

• Staff will be at drop off to assist students in getting in and out of vehicles
• Do not exit your vehicle in the drop off line.
• There will be one line to drop off students, stay in a single line and wait for the person in front of you to exit.
• Students should be ready to exit the vehicle on the curbside upon arrival. Students should exit from the passenger side of the vehicle.
• Absolutely no car drop off in the front from 7:00- 7:15 am (This is a bus lane)

Bus riders will enter the building through the main entrance doors and proceed to their grade levels assigned waiting spots.

Child care students will enter the building through the main entrance doors and proceed to their grade levels assigned waiting spots.

Walkers will enter the building through the main entrance doors and proceed to their grade levels assigned waiting spots.

• Doors will not open until 7:00 AM.  
• Parents need to say their good-byes at the front entrance doors.
• Walkers parents must park in the visitor lot north of the school to walk their children up.

AFTERNOON DISMISSAL   (School ends at 2:55 pm.)

Car riders

• Each student will be assigned a car tag number.
• Car tags can be picked up at Meet the Teacher or can be obtained through the office.
• Please attach the car tag to the rear view mirror of your vehicle.
• Pull all the way forward to the person with the stop sign.  This allows us to load as many cars as possible per round.  
• Vehicles will form two lines at dismissal which loops around the back of the school building.  The student's car tag number will be announced then your student will enter into your vehicle.  
• Staff will be assisting the students in the car line so please do not get out of your vehicle. 
• It is important that you help your child memorize their car tag number.
• The only car pick up is through the car line.  No bus lane pick ups in front in the afternoon.

Bus riders 

• Buses will load at the front of the building.  
• Teachers will assist the students to ensure they get on the correct bus.  
• Please help your student learn their bus number.
• Students must have a yellow bus tag to be permitted to ride the bus.
• Only students routed for the bus transportation will be permitted to ride the bus.
• Parents will need a dismissal tag to show to the bus driver in order for their student to be released from the bus.
• Please request bus transportation at the time of registration or if you forgot to request, please call the front office.

Child care students

• Staff will escort students to daycare buses in the front.  
• If your student will not be riding the daycare bus or is absent, please contact the daycare.  The daycare bus will not leave the premises until they have confirmed the whereabouts of your child.

Walkers 

• Staff will take students to exit the building in two lines to meet parents.  
• Parents must be waiting for their children at the designated spot. You cannot wait for your student in the entry area of the school.  There are two designated spots, one on each side of the parking lot.  (Benches by visitor lot or shade under the trees near the gym) You must cross the crosswalk and wait for a child on the school side of the driveway.
• The only place you can park your car for a walk up is in the visitor lot.  
• You may not come into the bus line in the afternoon for pick up. 

TRANSPORTATION CHANGES

If something happens during the day and a transportation change needs to be made, you will need to fill out the Transportation Change form which is located on Hilltop’s website (located on the main page) and there is also a link below.

We understand changes happen, but we request that you help us get your children home the right way by completing the change of transportation form each time. Please try to plan ahead any transportation changes and communicate this with your child and your child’s teacher. Please try to keep your after school transportation consistent.

EARLY DISMISSAL

If you are checking your child out early, please make sure it is by 2:00 pm. Please do not park in the front bus lane after 2:15 pm.  No early dismissals after 2:30 pm.
